FEATURED *** Dallas Cowboys Initial 53-man roster ***

Trigg just wasn’t very good and when Schoonmaker filled in for Ferguson in real NFL games he produced at a similar level so I don’t see why people are so eager to get rid of him. Schoonmaker was a terrible pick in the second round considering he was neither particularly good nor at a position of need but that doesn’t mean we should just get rid of him for no reason. He is a lot better than what Trigg has shown us in camp.

If I had to make a 16 man practice squad just based off the players cut today, I would bring back Izzy Abanikanda, Phil Mafah, Anthony Smith, Jordan Hudson, Michael Trigg, Trevor Keegan, Shiyaz Pete, Nick Leverett, Tommy Dunn, Jay Toia, Isaiah Land, Justin Barron, Julius Wood, Zion Childress, Reddy Steward, and Josh Butler.

But some other teams' cuts are going to end up there instead of a few of these guys.
According to reports they are not bringing Pete back.

Clark is a slot guy the equivalent of Reddy Stewart. Cowboys wanted outside CBs which is why Carson & Speed are still on the roster.

Igbinoghene is an ex-cowboy. They didn't keep him the last time.

Fulton's problem is the money. First year is ok with th sb money already paid but the second year he has another ten million due with five million of it guaranteed.
Fulton would be terrific for us. Chiefs have been trying to trade him this week. I image they’ll suck up and keep him

5 waiver wire moves I would think about making.

1. Edge Antwaun Powell-Ryland got cut by the Bengals. Really surprising cut. He had 16 sacks at Virginia Tech his Senior season. He would be better than Wheat.

2. MLB Red Murdock got cut by the Broncos. Bring him in and get rid of Shemar James. You really only have 1 MLB on the team with Barham. If your not going to bring in Bobby Wagner, another guy who can stack and shed blockers and lay the wood might be beneficial. James, Winters and Overshown are all WLB's IMO.

3. OT Esa Pole got cut by the Chiefs. Bring him in and cut Drew Shelton, he will probably make it to the practice squad. Shelton doesn't deserve to be kept on a roster, he looks totally inept. Pole started 4 games with the Chiefs and looked solid last year, he has also been claimed off of a practice squad before.

4. RB Lan Larison(Patriots) or RB Cash Jones(Falcons). Both players play all special teams at a high level and can be PR or KR guys. They are extremely good receivers and would be great as a 3rd down RB. Blue probably goes to another practice squad. He seems like the kind of guy that would spurn the Cowboys because, he's mad they cut him and pass on the PS invite.

5. TE Cody Hardy got cut by the Saints. Bring him in and cut Luke Schoonmaker. If all they want out of Schoon is to be the blocking TE, then upgrade at blocking with Hardy. He was arguably the best blocking TE in college football last year. It was either him or Will Kacmarek.

Sign CB Fabian Moreau and cut Carson. The Commanders cut Moreau. Moreau is a Vet, no need to pass through waivers. He would be better than Carson or Speed.

Sorry if I am oversimplifying things, but why were all these guys cut by teams that had them in their building for several months?

And why would they be better than the guys the Cowboys have decided to keep?

Keep in mind that the 53 man roster and the game day roster are two different things, with game day roster being five less.
Exactly. We can almost be certain Camden Brown and Drew Shelton will be among the inactives.

I think Shiyaz P has already been ruled out as a PS player . Only so many spots .

most of those guys are young players that teams are trying to sneak onto their practice squad. Pole would most definitely be an upgrade over Shelton; but who wouldn't.

They don't have any 3rd down backs on the roster. They could also act as a backup to Turpin, which is needed.

Ryland and Murdock are players I really liked in college. Denver is stacked at LB so it's just a numbers game there. Ryland being cut confuses me. He might not fit the Bengals scheme that well. He is an extremely talented pass rusher though, I'd give him another chance.

The Schoon pick pissed me off so much. I am just trying to move on from him and leave that debacle in the rear view mirror.

I would also think about cutting Anger and picking up Wes Pahl. They could save 3m with the cut and Pahl was a very good punter at Oklahoma State last year. They punted all the time last year, he saw a ton of work.

Rahon Gary is a 275 OLB.

Yeah.......okay.....

It's good to see that the Cowboys upgraded their LB squad. All they had to do was give their EDGE squad a different name.

I do think Trigg has potential and I’d be very happy if he makes it to the practice squad. If he develops well then he could be part of the future at tight end here as Schoonmaker won’t be extended and personally I would hope we move on from Ferguson as soon as possible financially as well.

He was a 277 lb. OLB in Green Bay's scheme the past several years.

OLB/DE in this scheme is essentially the same thing.

He's a good player but Cowboys aren't paying around $14 million for two seasons or $9 million for one. Let alone the pick involved.
The reason he’s not cut is the money. I’m not in favor of trading for him at all, but if he’s cut then he can be signed by someone else at a lower cost. If there is an offset clause, the chiefs can get refund for some of the dead cap hit they take for cutting him.

That’s Clarence Hill not Schottenheimer. They don’t have to announce the 47 until I believe 2 hours before kickoff .
I think you're going against hope. Howell is significantly more polished as a quarterback than Milton at this point. He's athletic, too, buy not as much as Milton.

We have a good backup position now, which is good. It was horrific last year.
