They weren’t as great as the Steelers duo who got in.

Many Cowboys were deserving but part of the problem is with the success Landry had over 3 decades much was credited to Toms system.
in my opinion...54 and 55 were the best duo of their generation...and based on their on field accomplishments...both belong in the hall of fame.

An opinion most of us Cowboy fans would agree. Unfortunately the ones who can make a difference don’t agree.

And I’d argue that the results of those Super Bowls are a big part of the decision.

Well, bloke, he is in the ROH. But, maybe, he is not NFL HOF material.

One thing's for certain, the HoF selection process is BLOKEN when it comes to the Cowboys. No doubt about it.

That’s a matter of opinion which is more strongly felt by some Cowboy fans.

I think it’s fairly obvious why some of those we feel are deserving haven’t gotten in.

Landry is the only HC in NFL history to take 4 different QB’s on the same team in three different decades to a championship game. Remarkable stat.

If you recall Staubach retirement speech he credited Landry’s system.

Tom was only HC who up until 1973 was also the OC and DC while being HC.

Landry was IMO the greatest genius in the history of the NFL. He was the only Engineer to be a HC and arguably the smartest to ever coach.

But he also said the reason the Cowboys came up short sometimes was the lack execution of his plays from his players.
...Best post dude. I agree whole heartily. Tom is in a class all his own. I just wished Dallas could have won him 1 more ring. 3 of 5 rather than 2 of 5 in SB's.

Jerry Kramer is going in this year. He should have gone in decades earlier, but supposedly the HOF voters thought that there were too many Lombardi era Packers already in the HOF. I think some of the Cowboys greats face the same dilemma.

I love Chuck Howley too...but IMO Drew Pearson and Cliff Harris are the Cowboys most neglected from the HOF. Both were members of the 70s All Decade team. Pearson (the original #88) was a 4 time All Pro, 5 times a pro bowler. Harris was a 4 time first team All Pro and 6 time pro bowler.

Being All Pro is way better than just being a pro bowler. All Pro means you were the best of the best.

No disrespect to Chuck Howley. I saw him play in person 5 times in my life and he was a great LB. I would love to see him in the HOF. But Drew P and Cliff H are more deserving in my view.

Then by your own criteria Chuck Howley should have been a first ballot HOFer and more deserving than either Pearson or Harris. Howley was not just one of the fastest LB to ever play but he was a turnover forcing machine and should have been on the 60's All Decades Team. Easily the best WILL in Cowboys history and one of the best ever.

6 time Pro Bowler
6 time All Pro (5 on 1st Team, 1 on 2nd Team)
Super Bowl MVP (only one to play on losing team)

#54 wasn’t just an OLB. He was a player way ahead of his time. He played like a DB; you couldn’t run outside of him, and he was the best in pass coverage. His turnover ratio ranked up there with the DBs.

He along with Drew should have been in a long time ago.

The early Cowboy stars get overlooked by the losses to the Packers....yet the Bill's and Vikings have several players in HOF. Yeah there's no bias.
