Dallas Cowboys meet with Oregon linebacker Joe Walker,

Oregon had four players invited to the Combine, but the prospect who wowed everyone at pro day was linebacker Joe Walker, would did not receive an invitation.

Walker's testing marks included measuring 6020, 236 pounds, posting a 37.5 inch vertical jump and a broad jump which measured 10-4. He completed 23 on the bench, then ran 40 times which clocked 4.60/4.63, a short shuttle of 4.37 and a 3-cone at 6.84. Walker then looked good in position drills.

Graded as a street free agent entering the year, Walker was considered a terrific football player (he led the Ducks with 87 tackle last season) but questionable athlete. This will now have scouts rethinking that opinion.

Walker met with the Cowboys last night.

The 40 (if legit) would have been top 5 at the combines. You're right about the shuttle, it was meh but still not bad. The three cone was good though (he would've placed 2nd amongst all LBs).

Sounds like his tape's pretty good and now that he has #s to go along with the tape, might be a good option for us early day 3. I would definitely feel better if we came away with a backup for Lee.

We already have two backups for Lee in Hitchens and Wilson. Walker is a legit athlete though. Put on a Buckner vid and look for 35--he's always flying around. Not a big fan of the angles he takes though.
