Dallas Cowboys minicamp: 3 winners from the week's practices

The Cowboys seem to be pumping up some players this year. Schottenheimer has complimented a bunch of players already. I think it is a motivation technique for him, but let's see if he is right.

I just get this feeling that all the positivity over Elam is going to turn to disappointment when the season begins.

The article states that the Cowboys are “looking to get younger” at TE by getting Spann-Ford involved more. But he’s less than a year younger than Ferguson and only 1.25 years younger than Schoonmaker. I call bullspit.
Translation. Grandpa Luke was a bust just like we all knew when he was drafted.

Not sure I agree that he’s a bust, but definitely wasn’t worthy of a 2nd round pick as we all suspected. He represents the best combination of blocking and pass catching on the roster. If Ferguson has another bad year with drops and missed assignments, I’d imagine Luke takes his job.

Luke and Mazi are on the trade block. Be lucky to get anything of substance for either.

I haven’t seen this reported anywhere but if they can get a 4th rounder for either I’d take it. I’m less inclined to trade Luke because he flashed at times last season. I’m done with Mazi though and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s out of the league within 2 years.
