A few Cowboys players really helped themselves with how they performed during minicamp.

After a three-day stint, the Dallas Cowboys’ mandatory minicamp has now concluded. They can now look to the next phase of the offseason - training camp. With every passing stage of the offseason, the mold of this team starts to take shape, and with some strong performances a few players appear to have carved out a role for themselves. Here are the players who gained the most from minicamp.

Kaiir Elam

Earlier this offseason, Kaiir Elam was traded to the Cowboys. A former first-round pick of the Buffalo Bills, Elam struggled to see the field as much as he should and quickly fell out of favor with the organization. He comes to Dallas with a fresh start hoping to make a name for himself and live up to his draft status.

He strung together good days at minicamp and now heads to training camp with some good reps under his belt. Dallas has questions at cornerback because of the health of Trevon Diggs and inexperience at the position. Though Shavon Revel and Caelen Carson are intriguing prospects, they are still developing and Elam can seize the moment in the interim. Elam is in the final year of his rookie contract from Buffalo but could find a role for himself beyond this season if he can carry the momentum from minicamp into the regular season.

Elam looks good. Pickens could be one of the best in the league. Spann-Ford at 270 pounds can create mismatches, but his hands are not good. If he improves with the pass catching he will have a lot of upside. Also, Sam Williams with his speed report is a good sign as well.

The article states that the Cowboys are “looking to get younger” at TE by getting Spann-Ford involved more. But he’s less than a year younger than Ferguson and only 1.25 years younger than Schoonmaker. I call bullspit.
Maybe it’s a euphemism for having Ferguson and Schoonmakers replacements in place before they both depart….the opposite of how Elliott/Pollard imminent departures were handled. Neither is likely to be extended. As we are often reminded, the cap is real.

Ford seems more like a TE3 blocker type though. They should really add a day two TE in the next draft or two.

The free agent they added in this draft looks good too.

They must want a 7th grader!!! Now if they said younger at QB (dak) or younger at safety maybe ok lol sheesh (wilson/hooker)

I think they are looking at Spann-Ford because he's got great size and uses it well as a blocker. Where he needed the most work was as a receiver. If it clicks for him, I think we would only be trying to look to get more physical at TE. Schoonmaker isn't a lock for No. 2 snaps.

He said "so far so good" and you telling him to stop lol? Come on man lol....that's not even bad for RAmbo who pumps sunshine like crazy lol.
You know who looked great in practice and OTAs and minicamps?

Darius Jackson.

Did he ever crack the starting lineup?

Year in year out we see these puff pieces being peddled out by the Dallas media hype machine. It’s in overdrive this year because Jerry and his dumb son know the fan base is upset.

“Drought” and all. So they are pushing hard.

I’ll believe it when I actually see it on the field in pads. That isn’t me not being a fan, that’s me knowing that anyone can look good in shirts and shorts. It’s when the rubber meets the road.

Mazi smith looked “super strong” the past 2 mini camps.

How’s he looked in games?

This is huge for Spann-Ford........
I'm starting to think we could see more 12 personnel than we've seen in the past

During minicamp, he was on the field with the starters at times, which signifies the belief the coaches have in him.

It appears Elam is close to locking up Diggs' starting job until he returns
