Dallas Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle on how he sees the run game improving in 2024

There's going to be a lot of middle runs. Part of that's nature of the NFL (inside-zone runs are the chalky run call today, defenses are too fast to the outside), and that tendency will be exaggerated because all our RBs run like a 4.70 or slower.

EDIT - just checked Rico's combine results. He ran a 4.54.

Duece didn't run at the combine but at his pro day he ran a 4.46.

Royce ran a 4.54 at the scouting combine.

Luepke didn't run at the scouting combine but he has been timed at 4.61 or 4.58 depending on the source.

Nathaniel Peat didn't attend the scouting combine but ran a 4.32 at his pro day.

Not bashing Tyron but he could not get to the 2nd level.. Our Center was weak and Steele was coming off a ACL.. Pollard had no chance. This year the Oline will be better but our RB's are below average. So the results will be the same unless our starter is not on the team yet.

Zeke is now a slug. Freeman ran his Combine 40 time 6 years ago, and since then, he has one rush over 25 yards in 460 career carries. Those two will be taking the bulk of our RB carries, and I am very confident that both of them run a 4.7 or slower on the laser today.

Deuce is a sub-NFL player. Dowdle is the only rostered RB with a legit NFL size/speed combo, and even then, he's a backup level athlete.

Rico will get far more carries than Freeman this year. There is a chance freeman doesn't make the 53.
