Dallas Cowboys Roster Cuts 2015: Seven Potential Waiver Claims For The Cowboys

Every year we hear the term "final cuts" but as the majority of us know; today's cuts are anything but final. The Cowboys have plenty of hard decisions to make with their own roster, but it is all about churning in the National Football League. For the fans, this is kind of like another free agency period, where everyone can excited about potential new faces.

For Dallas, they certainly have a few more questions to answer ahead of their Sunday night showdown with the New York Giants. After going through training camp and the preseason, some rose to the occasion while others faltered in front of their opportunities. Let's look at a few guys that could help upgrade the Cowboys roster and possibly fill some of these duties that haven't found a suitor just yet.

QB Matt Flynn - Released By Jets...

I wouldn't mind giving Jonas Gray a look-see to see if maybe he might be worth keeping instead of Dunbar.

Oh and... anybody to replace Weems... I really don't think it matters who.

What a charmed life Matt Flynn has lived....

QB of a BCS national champion LSU team
Earned a superbowl ring (as a backup)
$25M+ of earnings during his career
Married Ms. Louisiana
Played 2-3 really spectacular games
Got to see / live in lots of NFL cities....

He is clearly in the bonus.

Playing with a lot of house money.

OT's. I can see taking a look at. And a QB if as a 3rd QB if they can afford the roster spot, but no way to replace Weeden at this point. As to knowing the play book and offense.

People still wanting to mess with the RB situation. Can we wait to see what we have first.
And the injury history is a bogus argument. We had that going into last year too, and everyone thought we were just going to pass it all the time anyway, with Linehan, supposedly the pass happy guys in him and Garrett.
We seen how, that worked out didn't we. Lol.

LB, maybe, but still, see what we have. Though Brinkley, everyone wanted to replace. Maybe worth a look.

But these guys are on the waiver wire for a reason. But some could just be a numbers game too.

For football fans, the finalization of the 53-man roster date often feels like the end of a long process. Just like the draft signals the end of a long process of evaluating college talent, with endless mock drafts, scouting profiles and draft strategies, the announcement of the 53-man roster often feels like the final step en route to building an NFL team that stretched from free agency and the draft through rookie minicamp, OTAs and training camp, replete with endless iterations of 53-man roster projections.

Bill Parcells was fond of saying that "the NFL is a talent acquisition business." Jason Garrett might argue that it’s less of a business and more of a talent acquisition "process." Either way, the Cowboys are constantly looking for ways in which to upgrade their roster, by whatever means available.

And while the football public has traditionally focused on the draft and free agency as the primary means of talent acquisition, for NFL franchises, the announcement of the 53-man roster is just one milestone in a year-round process of acquiring, developing and retaining player talent for their team.

Less than 24 hours after final roster cuts, at noon EST on Sunday...

3 of the 7 are OT's?

I don't think we have our swing tackle yet; Chaz could have been that guy.

This is another crazy/important time for the FO.
McClay and Steven probablly got no more than 3 hours of sleep last night, and it wasn't because of partying with Jerry. There are lots of potential deals out there, and the PS additions need to be done before 11 am Central.

We may lose some of our cuts, like Gardner or Showers or even Malena, so we'll find somebody else's to replace them. These moves all have major ripple effects throughout the league, and it's almost as chaotic as the day after the draft because you're not sure who will be available.

We need a direct feed from Steven.........wait, then I wouldn't get any sleep either.

All I've seen is Jonas gray looked like crap this camp. That's why he was cut.

We're not picking up a vested veteran prior to the first game of the season because it guarantees his year's salary. Week two maybe. This week we probably pick up a rookie if anything.

I'd love to have Austin Davis here as Romo's backup, but I'll never understand the love for Tebow.
