Putting The 'D' Back In Defense
From what was seen out in the River Ridge Playing Fields, defense was the big winner of the day. The Cowboys offense was picked three time by three different defenders. Barry Church, Byron Jones and Scandrick all came away with interceptions. Barry Church was especially good in coverage and seemed to play with better closing speed. You can see that he has the "short-term memory" that is needed for NFL defensive backs. After giving up a long pass to Jason Witten, he responded on the very next play with a diving interception off Tony Romo. Jones' pick was an easy misread by Dustin Vaughan, and Scandrick was just playing amazing coverage. Morris Claiborne didn't have any picks but he was playing with great confidence. His coverage was excellent and that's good news for the Cowboys if he keeps progressing, they're going to need him. Overall, impressive day for the defensive backs.

Sitting Out Does Not Sit Well For Dez Bryant
Sean Lee was able to put in a little work in team drills, it was nice to see his explosiveness and impeccable game awareness. Dez Bryant returned to practice but was held out of most team drills and one on ones. He lined up a few times but every one was a run play. Dez was visibly upset and angry that he couldn't participate. He's such a 100 mile an hour guy that this is the type of stuff he thrives on. He is without a doubt the heart and soul of the team and was upset he couldn't show out to the fans in attendance. Your shot is coming soon, big guy.

Laurence Gibson Coming On Strong
About 30 minutes before practice was to begin, there was Marc Colombo working almost exclusively with Laurence Gibson. He looked good and aced just about every drill Colombo had him run. Gibson has been getting some praise as of late and probably has earned more playing time these next two games. He's got power and has got to be on the list of potential "most improved" candidates

Love to see Gibson turn into a reliable player. Swing tackle would be great.
