Dallas Cowboys vs. Denver Broncos: What to watch for
https://thelandryhat.com/2017/09/17/dallas-cowboys-denver-broncos-watch-for/

While it was not shocking to see Dallas score just 19 points, no one would have thought they would hold a team to just three defensively. While I would not expect that trend to continue, I would not consider it an aberration either. The Cowboys did a lot of good things defensively.

Young players such as linebackers Jaylon Smith and cornerbacks Anthony Brown and Chidobe Awuzie came to play. Defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence looked better than ever. Meanwhile, star linebacker Sean Lee was Sean Lee.

Offensively, if not for a couple of errant Dak Prescott throws, those 19 points could have been much more. Still, Prescott looks to have a veteran’s command of the offense in just his second year. Then there’s the straw that stirs the drink for the Cowboys, Ezekiel Elliott. Even though Elliott didn’t score a touchdown or break any big runs, he did exactly what you need him to do. Constant body blows to the Giants defense wore them down. Thanks to his 24 carries and 104 yards, Dallas was able to maintain four drives of nine or more plays...

I think people forget that with the offense controlling the clock in 2016, I think the D was first in the league against the run...I see more of that in this game and going forward...I can see some big plays given up on D with the rookie/young crop of DB's, but only for a few weeks...

....I have said this in other threads, I get excited to watch BOTH the offense AND defense nowadays (not scared of the D like in seasons past)....

FRISCO (AP) — DeMarcus Lawrence strapped on the faux boxing championship belt that goes to the weekly MVP for the Cowboys, ready for the cameras with a subtle jab at reporters that they only want to talk to him after the Dallas defensive end gets sacks.

If he’s right, that explained the crowd around him in the locker room at team headquarters three days after Lawrence had two sacks as the Cowboys held a season-opening opponent to the fewest points in 22 years in a 19-3 win over the New York Giants.

Lawrence is in his fourth season since the Cowboys drafted him in the second round two months after releasing franchise sacks leader DeMarcus Ware in a cost-cutting move. Injuries and a substance-abuse suspension have slowed his development, but a big year could be coming...

Tire them out, if EE is hitting them, keep pounding. McFadden i hope today, but if not, keep pounding. Let that FB run too. if its not working, let Beasley work, let whoever is hot have at it. The Giants have a great DL and EE had them tired before half time. Dont let that go to waste.
