Did anyone read the article in last week's DCW about the holding penalty in the end zone that wiped out a 99 yard Dallas TD back in the 60's and scored a safety for the other team?

At the end of the article, the author mentioned that the "holding penalty in the end zone" rule that resulted in a safety was removed by the NFL a few years later.

Well, could someone explain why Dallas scored a safety in the 1980 Thanksgiving game against Seattle because of a holding call in the end zone against tackle Ron Essink of Seattle?

I have no idea why someone would say that, because holding in the endzone (meaning while the QB is still in the endzone) is still a safety.

If it was a 99 yd running play that got called back, I bet Dorsett is glad.
