Dallas Cowboys Weekly... Is it worth the $$$$

The only thing that I recall being additive information was the player Q&A's and the cheerleader page. Every once in a while they would do a more in depth profile on a player that would be interesting. It's almost more like a collector or nostalgia piece. Sometimes it's nice to read a paper instead of the computer screen.

You hit the nail on the head there about it being more like a collector or nostalgia thing. Exactly right and it is interesting how fast nostaglia catches up with you.

I used to usually receive the Weekly on Friday mornings and, in my youth, I would often have to work afternoons, so I would read the Weekly with breakfast. That was an in-season Friday tradition. After a bad loss, I would look forward to reading the DCW game recap because it would never seem as bad.

Subscribed for years and it was special but it always arrived too late - dated material. Like everybody else says the internet made it obsolete. Between this forum and the team's official website you don't miss a beat.

If the team offered a discounted, online only edition I might reconsider. But there is so much content available on the net already.

However, the DCW was the King during it's era.

for old times sake,(when my parents made me move to frickin Colorado(1979),that was the way i kept up w/ the America's team) Ive been getting it since '79. any body want to sell prior to that, or since (im missing some)

I got a feeling of profound melancholy reading this thread. It took me back to a simpler time; yes they usually arrived late and during the lean years, you had to make do with seeing "The Lethal Weapon" Vince Albritton on the cover, but I still loved collecting them. I even ordered the Blue Book one year, following the 1985 season. It had statistical breakdowns of each game (Tony Hill and Mike Renfro were dynamite that year!) and even a preview of the 1986 draft class (if only Sherrard could've stayed healthy! As for Zendejas, Clack, and the rest....)

Anyways, I loved the DCWs back in the day, but they more or less define obsolete in this day and age. I used to have my collection in pretty good condition, but a basement flood put paid to it.

Yeah, it's hard to print and mail updates about where Jerry's jet has taken off from and landed.
