and this was after a 4 game stretch with no turnovers at all.

Added to this is the fact the Dallas defense also got 13 sacks in the last 4 games, it looks like this unit has peaked at the right time.

Turnovers figured in with sacks, working backwards:

Lions: 1 interception, 1 FF recovered, 1 FF not recovered to go with 4 sacks.
Bucs: 3 interceptions, 1 FF recovered, 1 FF not recovered to go with 4 sacks
Giants: 1 interception, 2 FF recovered, 2 FF not recovered to go with 2 sacks
Vikings: 0 interceptions, 1 FF recovered, 2 FF not recovered to go with 3 sacks
Commanders: 0 interceptions, 0 FF recovered, 1 FF not recovered to go with 0 sacks
Ravens: 0 interceptions, 0 FF recovered, 1 FF not recovered to go with 0 sacks
Steelers: 0 interceptions, 0 FF recovered, 1 FF not recovered to go with 0 sacks
Browns: 0 interceptions, 0 FF recovered, 0 FF not recovered to go with 4 sacks

Eagles: 0 interceptions, 1 FF recovered, 3 FF not recovered to go with 3 sacks
Packers: 1 interception, 3 FF recovered, 2 FF not recovered to go with 1 sack
Bengals: 0 interceptions, 0 FF recovered, 0 FF not recovered to go with 4 sacks
49ers: 1 interception, 0 FF recovered, 0 FF not recovered to go with 1 sack
Bears: 0 interceptions, 2 FF recovered, 2 FF not recovered to go with 0 sacks
Commanders: 1 interception, 0 FF recovered, 0 FF not recovered to go with 2 sacks
Giants: 1 interception, 0 FF recovered, 1 FF not recovered to go with 2 sacks

It's amazing to me to look back at the 5 games bolded above, where the Cowboys defense forced no turnovers at all, and realize they won all 5 of them. And it still kills me we got 3 turnovers vs the Giants in that last game we had with them and capitalized on none of them.

The 1 part of the season where i really started to get worried was the 4 game stretch in the middle there where the defense went 16 quarters without getting a turnover.

Now that defense has forced 10 turnovers and gotten 13 sacks in the last 4 games.

thanks for putting this together, great stuff. The defense has certainly turned a corner and getting hot at the right time. I believe there were several "should've been an INT" during the past few games, imagine if those turnovers were captured on your list.

Yes, we had like 3 dropped int's in just the Vikings game alone.

I actually think this is an important trend. I think we've felt for some time that our offense had everythign it takes to go all the way. But, it looked like it was dragging an anchor (our defense) much of the time. But, like yesterday when the defense gave the offense a short field on a turnover, the defense isn't a liability. It's steadily improving...as you've shown above.

From 0 turnovers in 4 games to 10 in 4 games. I wonder what happened to step things up?

I wonder if the defensive scheme was dictated by the offensive time of possession. I think we're calling different schemes because our offense was lagging. Or maybe it's close to playoff time so Marinelli is calling better plays.

I don't know this for sure, but this is my guess.

The TO's came when the sacks started. QB's tend to start panicking a bit when facing constant pressure. When Irving, Mayowa, and Collins started getting home with some consistency, lot and behold, we started accumulating smoke TO's. That's my theory, anyway.

This same thing happened in 2014 at the end of the season. I'm sure there's an explanation other than coincidence.

That's what I'm thinking. With the Philly game meaning nothing and the bye week coming up, we could go into that 1st playoff game having a lot of guys on that defense out there in their shape in awhile.
