The note on the TCU OT attending our Dallas Day got me to thinking... We should come up with a list of players who we will (or should) invite. The rules are that the player has to have played college or high school ball in the metro area.

As we know, the Cowboys always seem to like these guys, and we've drafted a few of them lately, including Crayton, Hodge, and Brandon Williams.

So off the top of my head...

TCU - OG Newhouse, OT Richmond (just saw in the Fan Zone), OLB Hughes (or is it even worth it) and ILB Washington.

SMU - WR Emmanuel Sanders

High schoolers - J.D. Walton

Of course only TCU and SMU (and I guess other universities like North Texas) are in the area, but lots of DFW high school talent gets drafted every year. Who else would be eligible?

how about this player, way i understand it, he is from dallas area, played HS there

As fast as McCluster ran, the eye-opener of the day was when cornerback Cassius Vaughn, a former East High star, ran the 40 in 4.3 seconds, solidifying him as a fast-rising draft sleeper.

Vaughn had plenty of motivation. He wasn't invited to the NFL combine, so he has spent the last couple of months training in Houston, waiting to strut his stuff for the scouts.

"It was money time; there was a lot of pressure with all eyes on you," Vaughn said of his blazing 40. "Not going to the combine was a big disappointment for me; it was a pride thing to measure up against the best. Today was my shot."

Draft Scout Cassius Vaughn News
09/20/09 - Houston Nutt’s reputation as an offensive coach may need some reworking. Sure, fifth-ranked Mississippi keeps putting up big numbers when it starts with the ball. But those stats pale compared to what the Rebels are doing on defense, as they showed again Saturday night. True freshman linebacker D.T. Shackelford scored on a 58-yard interception return and recovered two fumbles as Ole Miss forced five turnovers in a 52-6 win over Southeastern Louisiana. An impressive performance going into the Rebels’ Southeastern Conference opener Thursday night against coach Steve Spurrier and South Carolina. “Defensively you have to prove it every day,” free safety Kendrick Lewis said. “What we did tonight doesn’t mean anything at South Carolina.” Turnovers led to 21 points for the Rebels (2-0). They’ve run back interceptions for TDs in the third straight games and have allowed just 11.2 points per game in their last five. Like last week against Memphis, the defense bailed out a sloppy offense that again got off to a herky-jerky start. Jevan Snead, however, recovered to throw three touchdown passes. An early interception by Cassius Vaughn ended one scoring opportunity for the Lions (2-1) and Shackelford came up with two fumble recoveries as well. The group, playing without all-America candidate Greg Hardy because of a sprained ankle, propelled the Rebels to their eighth straight win, the longest streak since Ole Miss won 10 in a row in 1971-72. They held the Lions to 302 yards and didn’t allow a third-down conversion in 14 attempts. - AP Sports

11/03/08 - KEEP AN EYE ON: CB Cassius Vaughn -- The junior had a career-high nine tackles and made his first career interception vs. Auburn.

09/15/08 - LOOKING GOOD: The Rebels' defense held Samford to 198 total yards, as CB Cassius Vaughn had a team-high seven tackles and a blitzing sack, the first of his career. Jeremy McGee broke up two passes. Emmanuel Stephens and Chris Bowers each had one-and-a-half tackles for loss. Ole Miss limited Samford to 1.8 yards per carry.

Hmm, looks to me like he's from Tennessee, Joe.

maybe so, from what i understood in full document, mccluster was training in dallas area with a trainer and i thought they meant he was from dallas area,

dont really know, but if he is from dallas might be worthwhile to look at;decent speed etc and look at his videos;
