Since Roy was off the field so much Thursday and the fact that our pass defense was better, trade Roy, resign Hamlin and Reeves. then alternate Henry, Watkins, and maybe Brown at the other saftey position when handy. Trade Spears, and resign Canty to long term. We'll have plenty of depth with Ratliff, Hatcher, and Bowen. That way, Ferg and Tank get the tackle position. Trade Carpenter, resign Burnette. Draft another linebacker at some point. Draft a running back, cb, and lb too.

I see Ferguson and Glenn here one more year as their cap hit would be big if they are released now

Not quite as big (this year) if they are released after June 1.

Dallas will be very luck to sign Reeves.

The kid is a player and he should have been signed to a long term deal before the season started.

Why?

No one really knew how he would play as a starter.

He's been OK but lets be real, he hasn't been a world-beater.

Look for a high-round CB to potentially replace him come April.

I remember Jerry Jones saying after the dust had cleared from the big names of the 90' super Bowl years.........

"I will never go into salary cap Hell again"...........

i took it to mean...........he wont give 7 yr deals to vets's he perceives will only play at a high level for 2 or 3 more years..........
***************

Might it not be easier on the Cap to have some other team take the Tender on MBIII for a 1st and a 2nd..........package em' all up for D-mac......1 rookie to sign.........
vrs.
signing MBIII and 2 1st round pics to all big cap hits...........

I myself dont presribe to the big time rb theory, got too many other spots to improve.........

but salary cap mngt might start to force Jerrys hand......

I cant see us letting Flo or Columbo go, but they aren't gonna be cheap, plus Flo is getting up there in years. I could see us franchising Flo for a year unless he accepts a short term deal. He is just too long in the tooth to sign long term, and too good not to keep. I can't see us letting an unproven player watch Romo's blind side for about 67 million reasons.

I don't see us franchising Flo. That's way too much money at this stage of his career. I could see a John Runyan type contract offer.

If Flo is gone, I could see McQ or Free taking over at LT come next season.

The nature of the cap is that if you want to stay cap-secure you need to either sign old players on the cheap or let them walk and let younger guys take over... and as difficult it is for some fans to swallow, that's how it has to be.

But Adams isn't worth the $10 mil as a franchise player.

Sure it's going to force his hand. That's why franchising Flozell Adams is downright goofy. We'll need the space to sign and extend several of the key younger players like Canty, Ratliff and Newman-- who's going to cost a bundle.

I like the way you think here! Spears is better this year but does not show up alot. Carpenter, well we never knew ya! I am not sure anyone would trade for Roy Williams with his new contract. If we could get a good deal then yes, do it.

Does the $30 million cap number for 2008 include Tony's new money?

We don't need to worry about Colombo as he is signed through the 2008 season.

Colombo will be seeing more money, Jerry said that he should accept the lesser deal, play well, show that his knee is fine, and he'd re-do it

Flozell Adams makes $7mil this year. He should be happy with the same $ next year. Marc Colombo makes $3mil this year. What kind of $ should he get next year?

Colombo is under contract for next season... why give him more?

You know we draft guys in order to replace older vets with younger players. McQ has looked good in pre-season work and Free showed excellent feet. At some juncture you have to let the older guys go and let the youngsters take over. Yeah, the pass protection has been good this year but the running game has been inconsistent-- so the line, while good, isn't perfect.

That was also before Free and Marten were drafted.

Keeping Ferguson becomes a numbers issue. Will we really keep 3 DT and 4 DE's? Of course having a Ratliff, Tank and Ferguson in a 3 man rotation would definitely keep all of them fresh and running at full speed all game long.

I think Ratliff is better at DE. I'd want our d-line to look like this next year

Canty Tank Spears
Hatcher rookie Ratliff
Bowen

Or posibly Ayodele at NT

we're talking about re-doing his current contract to give him money on par w/ his play, not talking about re-signing him

Maybe Dallas should try to find an older corner and pay him $25 million....

wait..we already tried that.

I'm assuming you're talking about Anthony Henry? You know, the guy who is 2nd in the league in interceptions.
