I wouldn't be upset if this was our pick.

He looks a lot like Travis Kelce to me and our offense desperately needs a player like this.

I also like that he can line up like a traditional TE with his hand in the dirt and block a guy.

A real vertical threat at the TE position.

I love him as a player. If this is the pick I don't think I would be unhappy other than his lack of playing time this year because we don't know how to utilize the 2 TE set effectively...

If he was the pick best believe he's getting significant playing time in a 2 TE set

If we spend the 19 on a TE, I’ll eat my hat.

Well. WE do need a TE.

Nothing against Witten but if we are going to be a basic offense we need some freaks out there to make freakish plays and his best days are behind him.

He doesn't command respect down field and that type of player would help out our WR's.

We definitely need a TE with some wheels. Ian Thomas would be a good option a lil later.

If our plan is to roll Witten and his 5 yard option routes, and the same group of characters of Hanna, etc we are already doomed next year. If RICO can't play, fine. We must get a quality TE though.....and if he can't block I don't give a crap!! My preference is Andrews out of OU later.

Witt catches a lot of passes and still gets open, but the defense isn't scared of the 5 yard options on 3rd and 9!

I don't see the need for a TE. Witten hasn't commanded respect downfield for years at this point, and we haven't used those types of guys under Garrett, anyway. We want guys who can play the Y, who can block both inline and in space, and who can be effective in a limited capacity in the passing game. The guys behind Witten all basically fit that same mold.

Jarwin's a bit of a downfield player, but his blocking needs a bit of work. Gathers is a guy who can give you mismatches physically, but they're size and strength mismatches and not speed.

I can see wanting us to have an offense that uses the TE downfield more. But since that's probably not going to change under Garrett/Linehan, it doesn't make sense to spend premium draft picks on it. We're more likely to spend our offensive resources on another OL and on a mid-round WR who can give us some speed. Or maybe get a RB to replace Morris who can do some of that stuff and who can split out for you. We've at least had role players like around here recently.

Love Goedert as a player, btw.

I like him but not at 19.
Id rather grab one later.
I like Fumagali or whatever his name is from Wisconsin...great hands, blocks, tough.
Mark Andrews,Ou...but I dont wanna spend a 2nd Rd pick on a TE...unless we get washed out at other spots.
Ian Thomas,Indiana
Adam Brenneman,Umass

But we also have to make room for him...we're up to our eyeballs in TEs.

This guy is blocking inline in college so that's a plus.

He looks like an all around player.

Also.. Witten hasn't commanded respect for years.. That is a problem. We need a dynamic player at that position.

We need big plays in the passing game. Witten is nothing but a chain mover at this point.

If we're going to be a run first team we actually need guys that can get over the top of a defense.

the legend of Rico...coming soon to disappointment near you...

I like Goedert as a player, but ONLY if they were to do some trade back and pick something up in the process...he isn't the #19 pick to the Cowboys

Although I'd go best Def player avail at 19, I'd love Dallas G on the team. This kid seemingly has the instincts of Cooper Kupp in terms of allways being open.

Watched him play NDSU's Bison for last several years......Goedert was always available for their QB to make plays. and this was during NDSU's run of 6 out of 7 Natty Champs/ Wentz tenure, N.Deluca etc.........NDSU turned out a decent amount of NFL players in those 6 years

I'd put Dallas G with any of them, along with Cooper Kupp, Ariz Cards running back David Johnson..........

Dont forget SDSU Wr Weinikei also.......could be a poor mans C.Kupp

Don’t worry, Witten will be one of the reasons his favorite coach gets fired.
