Dallas has 10 selections over seven rounds, tied for second-most in NFL

Just draft good football players, regardless of round. Usually, the tape doesn't lie. Rely on the tape and the interviews. That's why I would not be mad if we drafted a guy like Donovan Edwards from Michigan with one of those day 3 picks. He's a solid RB. Also, his team mate Mullings. He's a big running back. In round 3, we just need to find a starter. We have no choice.

That is a HUGE distortion of the picture. The Cowboys have 5 selection in the last 2 rounds.

So they have 5 picks in the first 5 rounds. Sounds completely different saying it that way.
You know how they're going to say "we value and find value in having those late round picks" lol, for guys that probably won't make the cut uhh. I hope we package a 5th for a player on team that another team is looking to get rid of, but can give us good play (ex Gilmore trade/Cooks trade)

Yup, and 3 in the first 4 is an even starker way of putting it.

With so many 6ths and 7ths, we should be looking to use a few and maybe a player to trade up into the fourth.

Four of the ten picks are after 200 players are selected. Maybe the Cowboys can find a Purdy with one of their many 7th rounders.
Hope not, I still think Purdy is overrated.
Look how he did not carry his team with injured players last year.

The Cowboys have 3 of the first 76 picks. And 7 of the last nearly 200. Very bottom heavy.
Yes but consider the players the traded a few late round draft picks for. Far better than what they would have drafted.

Also, they entered FA period with 10 draft picks. Made trades with 3 late round draft picks, got 2 players that can help immediately. And QB prospect that is NFL ready over any late round QB they could draft.
And, they still end up with 10 picks.

Fans and the media need to take that into consideration especially when grading the draft.

we love them so much we won't sign anyone in hopes of not messing up the formula!! (YES I realize other teams do that too)
Right now, Dallas is project to have 1 comp pick. They were at 3. But signed a few players that offset players they lost.
So are they truly concerned over comp picks?

Still sounds like 10 to me….lol. Still better than 7 in 7.
It depends on where they are. If we had a 1st, two 2nds and two 3rds, that's way better than the 10 picks we have now. Our round 3 pick is worth 210 in trad value. Our last 7 picks are worth roughly 75 combined.

Our first 3 picks are platinum, gold, and silver. The rest is pocket change you throw in a jar. I'd be happy if one or two players became a starter or a solid backup.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way on the chart. All those 5 picks combined will only get you up into the bottom third of the 5th. So given that, your better off just keeping them and trying to be smart with picking guys who have a chance.

There are quarterbacks that can't do what Purdy did. In today's NFL all you can ask for is for the QB to play good with a solid roster around him. Very few can carry a team today.

I am sure they will package a 2026 4th or 5th or 6th to move up to get a player. Then tell us they got a deal.
Seems it is a move they make every draft.

But I agree, take the chance with the draft. We all would love if they can move back up into the 4th but likely it will not happen, unless you give up the next years 4th.

Best to trade down to get that 4th round pick, or better yet, a 3rd round.

Not necessarily disagreeing. But what “players they traded a few late round picks for” are you referencing?

What is it fans and the media are supposed to take into consideration? I’m assuming you mean Joe Milton as “NFL ready”?

He’s been to a Super Bowl, two NFCCGs…and he’s not getting $60 million AAV. The Cowboys could do worse than another “Purdy” type QB.

Jourdan Lewis will get us a 5th.

And don't look now, but the Eagles will get a 3rd, 4th and 5th.
Yes, last I seen Lewis will get us a 5th round.
Contract size for those Eagles players net a higher pick. Not sure why Lewis is so low. But it could have to do with how long a player has been in the NFL.

Last year, Tyron Smith contract would have got us a 3rd round, but since he was in the league for over 10 years. The highest you can get was a 5th.

Yeah, it gets us as far as pick 173 from the Bills.
