Dallas has 10 selections over seven rounds, tied for second-most in NFL

They are pretty good at signing UDFAs. Just consider the round 6 and 7 picks as uncontested priority UDFAs.

Not necessarily disagreeing. But what “players they traded a few late round picks for” are you referencing?

What is it fans and the media are supposed to take into consideration? I’m assuming you mean Joe Milton as “NFL ready”?
Elam and Murray are far better than a late round pick. They can step in and help right away. Even start.
Milton has a year with a NFL team. He showed he can play. You rather have him come in over a late round rookie QB?

They sent a 5th to Buffalo, got a 6th in return
They sent a 6th to Titans, got a 7th in return
They sent a 6th to NE, got a 7th in return
That is getting 3 players that can step on the field day 1, and only moved down 1 round to get them.

Look at Carson form last year, when he had to step in and start. He was not ready. Got some good experience, but was not ready. And didn't they trade up to get him?

Fans and the media will say, Dallas gets a D, because they did not draft anyone of value in the late rounds, and reached for the 2nd and 3rd round players. We see that every year.
However as I posted, they also got 3 players that can contribute right away. And still maintained keeping 10 draft picks.

I think that is a win for the FO, though many will not see it that way.

Even if no trades in the draft, to me that is like getting 13 players in the draft.

He’s been to a Super Bowl, two NFCCGs…and he’s not getting $60 million AAV. The Cowboys could do worse than another “Purdy” type QB.
He also had SB caliber defenses to help. That goes a long way to a teams success.
He will get his payday.

He won’t get Dak’s payday.
That was on Jerry. Whatever he gets from SF may not be that high. But will still be significant.
However it will be used against Dak by some on here for a comparison. We all know how that goes.

Is Dak worth that, no. I wish they would have never given him that deal. As I said that is on Jerry.
Purdy is a product of a great system, surrounding players on both sides of the ball, an well coached, as Garappolo did well in that offense also.

Your response is an indictment of Jerry. Other teams can make deep playoff runs with less than elite quarterbacks. Jerry can’t. It is every Cowboys fans’ cross to bear.

yes hence the reason they have SO MANY NOW!!! Sheesh
Just the way it works out at times.
You act like it is horrible to get comp picks.
Not signing FA’s is not a draft strategy. Just to get comp picks. It is just they don’t overpay.
Fans want them to pay big money for a few FA”s. Then turn around and say how stupid they are for giving out big contracts.

Which way do you want it?
Or is it just another way to complain.
Sheeesh

lol you're the one that made it seem like it was a bad thing, I could care less, but we just seem to love to stockpile them. Don't get on my bad side today young man, it's Saturday the weather is nice, and that friend of mine is nowhere to be found!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!       :muttley:

There are quarterbacks that can't do what Purdy did. In today's NFL all you can ask for is for the QB to play good with a solid roster around him. Very few can carry a team today.
There’s young QBs that can do what he did with a great roster around them. Jayden Daniels was terrific last season. Purdy didn’t carry SF. He had a great roster around him enabling him to manage games. When it’s been thrown on him he’s struggled.

Could Dak?

Yes. What I was saying is that there are QBs that can't do that regardless of roster. Purdy didn't carry his team, and most QBs in this league can't do that. Just be happy when you can get a QB than can play well with a good roster around them. All QBs can't do that.

That is a HUGE distortion of the picture. The Cowboys have 5 selection in the last 2 rounds.

So they have 5 picks in the first 5 rounds. Sounds completely different saying it that way.
Yeah I don't really care about the 6th and 7th rounds. Camp bodies, projects.. odds are they never come to fruition.
