Dallas has 10 selections over seven rounds, tied for second-most in NFL

That is a HUGE distortion of the picture. The Cowboys have 5 selection in the last 2 rounds.

So they have 5 picks in the first 5 rounds. Sounds completely different saying it that way.
Use the late ones to trade up if possible or trade for next year picks. Come away with 4-6 good selections.

Drafting a guy just to cut him at the end of camp is the worst possible outcome.

The problem is those 6th and 7th round picks have no value. All 5 combined only equal one of the last 5 picks in round 5.

It's better to just keep them and take a chance on those important positions like LT or CB to see if somehow you found a hidden gem.

What about trading them away for future picks? Don't you get a higher pick in return?

I'm just not a fan of taking 5 lottery shots. I would try to convert them into something that helps me get a player I have more confidence in. Now or in the future.

That is why passing in FA to get comp picks is a stupid move by Stephen. He basically wants to get a head start signing undrafted free agents.

If you bundled all 5 that might get you a 4th next year. But what GM is going to give you a 4th next year for those 5 picks? Even Jerry isn't stupid enough to do that.

I’d pkg those up to go get the “guy” I wanted in higher rnds or trade done for higher future picks. We don’t need bodies, we need talent

This would b great if 7 of those picks were day 1 and 2 instead of 7 being in rounds 5-7.
6th and 7th rnd picks are basically your choice of UDFA. Very little chance of hitting on a starter quality player. It happens but rarely
