True but I'm not sure you do this w/o a long-term plan. In other words, it makes you wonder if they are targeting certain player(s) on other teams (possible trades) who may or may not be available but wanna have your ducks lined up just in case.

With the Bland and Ferguson restructures the Cowboys pushed pretty much all the money into the future they could which they usually don’t do. That being said a lot of the other teams more heavily use void years which essentially do the same thing.

Basically, the $94.56 million is the definitive, statistical proof of "Part 4” of my other thread

• It shows that Jerry Jones did not just talk about a shift; he actually maxed out the credit card with seven different salary conversions and pushed a gigantic pile of debt into the future.
• This is proof that Jerry has officially abandoned the 20-year "pay-as-you-go" safe play he ran ever since he got burned after the end of the 90s Cowboys and adopted the exact "Howie Roseman” mindset that has become the symbol of how aggressive, rich teams chase super bowls. .

Actually, the cap management is done explicitly without a particular player or move in mind. Teams running their cap this way build the overarching strategy with a dedicated set aside for “capitalization on unexpected opportunity”

Making such a long term financial commitment, that moves away from twenty years of established Cowboys cap strategy, can’t be done with a single player in mind.

A month ago, I wrapped up Part 4 wondering if Jerry Jones had actually changed or if I was just seeing things. I was looking for a “sliver of hope” that the front office was finally moving away from twenty years of timid, risk-averse cap management and adopting the hyper-aggressive Howie credit card model.

Well, we just got the definitive proof that the shift is real.

According to the cap nerds over at Spotrac, the Cowboys led the entire NFL in restructured money this offseason by bulldozing a massive $94.56 million of it down the road via salary conversions.

This is real money, not the usual Jerry spin. Taking on a mountain of future debt like this means he is finally abandoning the defensive, safe-play mindset that has paralyzed the franchise since the 90s dynasty crumbled and he got burned with bad player investments.

We wanted them to act like a 17 billion-dollar brand instead of a small-market family business. Pushing nearly $100 million into the future to chase a window is exactly how the aggressive, cash-rich elite teams operate.

Whether it works out on the field is TBD, but the receipts are officially in, and the old era of playing it safe is dead. Hell, Jerry even took out a mortgage on the burial plot.

I already know the replies are going to say the only receipts that matter are delivered in January.

Look, obviously pushing $95 million into the future doesn't automatically mean we win a Super Bowl. But it does mean the front office finally stopped window shopping and actually went all-in on this team.

For the first time in twenty years, if we fail, it won't be because we were too cheap or too scared to put our chips in the middle.
