Dallas made a statement that the Giants, Bears and Panthers could not answer

Before all the games played out Today (Sunday), Troy Aikman made the comment (and I'm paraphrasing here) that Dallas, on Thnaksgiving, made a statement about what it will take to win in the NFC; and that it will be interesting to see how leading contenders in the NFC - like the Giants, Bears and Panthers - will respond today in the face of such a performance (especially the Ginats since they're in the NFC-East).

Well, the book is in and all three of these teams could NOT answer the call that Dallas put forth. I thought it was a correct statment/observation by Troy because the game is so psychological, and part of it is being able to look down the line at your compeetition and play confident enough in the present to intimidate - and build enough confidence to help handle - future competition. Well, Dallas seems to be the intimidator in this conference and the rest of the NFC's contending teams seem to be the intimidated.

So to them I say...line 'em up!!! ... ;)

... STARTING WITH THE NY MIDGETS!!!!! :D

excellent post, Aikman is one sly guy, he makes us think he hates us, but then he turns around and says something...positive about us, again, what a sly guy

The only team that I'd worry about playing is probably the Bears because they have a very good defense.... With that said I also believe the Cowboys can beat them.

The Bears' defense is similar to ours. Their record is better only because their competition this season is much easier (I mean, Greem Bay, Minessota and Detriot? Please!) The Bears offense is nothing to write home about. They're average at best. The only reason they sometimes play aobve average is eitther because thwy're playing a putrid divisional opponent, or because their defeense creates so many turnovers for them that they have more opportunities to work with. But even then they underperform more tmes than not. I'm not worried about them.

The Bears don't seem to be able to drive the ball consistently. It's basically just deep throws and handing the ball off.

We will finally see the benefits of the 3-4 against a team such as them. Even though the Patriots turned the ball over five times the Bears were unable to capitalize because of the pressure packages and run stuffing that New England was able to apply with it's 3-4.

I live in Chicago and watch the Bears closely just because they're there. I can tell you that on offense they are much like the Giants. The Bears have an above average running game, but when passing the ball, their QB Rex Grossman does what Eli Maning does; he simply throws the jump ball - mostly without any real direction/accuracy to the pass - and hopes his WR can run umder it or jump up for it.

Rex Grossman just doesn't inspire confidence but then again Chicago has never had a stellar QB in the modern era. Jim McMahon was a flamboyant and crass personality but anything but dominant, Jim Harbaugh drifted about the league like a poor man's Vinnie Testaverde, Steve Walsh never took flight as a pro, Cade McNown is bagging groceries for all I care, Chad Hutchinson has gone the way of the Bruce Coslet, Kyle Orton was not shabby but not prolific, Rex Grossman sounds like a stage name in the mold of Carrot Top or Gallagher.

I think that is both a yes and no observation. No doubt we have a boost in confidence beating the Colts and Bucs convincingly. That stated can we effectively counter the physical aggressive defenses of the Giants and Eagles. Those type teams usually bring out the worst in us. Confidence is born from a tangible track record of beating tough teams. But then again the Colts lost to us.

Maybe it is what it is, today's NFL is week to week and too hard to figure out.

As well as Dallas has played in the last two games..they have only beaten 2 teams all season that had winning records at the time we played them.

All the rest were below .500.

Before you guys start measuring us for NFC title rings, I think you need to look at this team realistically.

This team has tendency to choke. They did it with the Commanders. They did it against the Jints earlier this year. They did it against the Iggles earlier this year.

They did it last year when they were 7-4 and took the nosedive.

They can do it at anytime.

I'd say you need to take a look at the Jints game they lost yesterday and realize that the Jints are going to be desparate to beat us. And that like few thought the Titans would win yesterday after being down 21 pts..

..the Cowboys are just as capable as having similar collapses.

Teams in our own division have us down 1-3 in our division. Our bigger wins have come outside our division against opponents from the AFC that rarely play us. Teams within our division know us, are geared to stop us and are more prepared to do it.

While I'm just like everybody else here, excited to see them playing well and Romo, etc..

..there is a lot of football left and lot's of twists left to our season.

When you ask who can stop us in the top teams of the NFC..

..my answer is don't look any further than the mirror.

This team has not proven anything yet. They have a 3 game winning streak. That's pretty meager..with 2 of those wins against Arizona and TB.

Not exactly winning teams.

I'd rather that the Jints and the Iggles be playing well and at full strength to see how good this team really is. And one of these upcoming defensive coordiantors is going to stop Romo with the intermediate passing game and show his weaknesses. Then the Romo bandwagon may hit a bump in the road.

Then what..? I think we need to stop putting all this attention on Romo. While I'd like to hope he's the next Aikman, time will tell. In the meantime, he shouldn't have to take all this credit for the team's success, because he's also going to be responsible for it's failure if it doesn't.

Just ask Bledsoe.

Sorry folks. I'm not eating the cheese just yet.

And I'm hoping the coaches convince this team not to eat it yet either. The finish line isn't in sight yet.

We'll see.

Excellent post. The Giants are waiting in NY. I think Romo is the real deal, but he wasn't enough in DC. Let's see what happens this week. One game at a time.

Yes we made a statement by beating the Colts & Bucs.....the statement was we aren't out of this thing yet.

The real statement must be made this next weekend.

Go into a divisional opponents own backyard and take control of the NFCE.

That to me will be making a statement.

Tony was more than enough in DC if you recall. It's just that T.O. wasn't enough when Romo gave a T.O. a gift and he goes about dropping the ball which would have been an easy TD. Then Vanderwhiff gets the ball blocked because the O-line missed a block.

Let's not forget that the defense played very soft throughout the game except for that one goal line stand early in the game.

parcellswaterboy, so you think opposing defensive coordinators (especially NFC defenses coordinators) will just be able to step in and take away all of our intermediate passes?

Have you noticed that the offense has a nice mix to it? And you can't just go out and say that you are going to shut down one particular person and that will cure what ails you on defense when defending the Cowboys.

Romo gets EVERYONE involved. From T.O. all the way down to rookie TE Anthony Fasano. I'm not saying I am eating the cheese either, but you can't help but see that Tony Romo is something special when he is directing the offense.

Let's not look ahead, but let's not downplay what we have seen so far from Romo and the other 10 guys on offense.

My point was that the team has to come together as a unit and play well. Romo can't do it by himself. This team has not demonstrated a ton of character on the road this season. Perhaps the advent of Romo has changed that and hopefully we'll see it in NY. We need to see more this week.
