Through two games it seems the defense has been slow to adjust to what the opponent is doing.

After halftime the defense has played better. This a good thing considering very few adjustments were made under Garrett. Just beat the other guy approach.

This is the breakdown by quarter.

That's 42 in 1st half and 17 in 2nd half.

If you take points off turnovers, the count is 22 points in first half and 14 points in 2nd half.

Now the defense needs to play better that's for sure, but the final results(points) have not been that bad.

Well there you go.

I thought they'd be slow in adjusting to what WE are doing.

Not at all.

I'm guessing you mean something different than I think when you say "have not been that bad".

29.5 points a game is not good at all. The Rams may have only score 20 but the certainly had no problem moving the football.

The defense needs to get better, particularly the secondary. To be honest, I thought the CBs we had, even without Byron we pretty good. But boy, I would rather we paid Byron than Jaylon of DLaw.

Relative to points allowed.

They have given up too many yards.

But at the end of the year both Los Angeles and Atlanta will be considered some of the better offenses in the league.

I mentioned in another thread that it's been, I think, several years since we allowed that many points.

Only other game that comes to mind was that atrocious week 2 performance at Denver in 2017.

My old coach used to make us run the same amount of wind sprints as the points we gave up

when i say we started shutting teams down....i mean we shut em down

maybe Dallas can do that? But theyre grown adults they may not respond

This defense is a lot better than what this fanbase gives them.

they are good against the run.....they dont get credit for that

but against the pass its like they slather their thighs in molasses and try to run and let me tell you, slathering your thighs in molasses and trying to play football sucks.....

Dallas outscored Atlanta 40-19 in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters. Atlanta only scored 20 on the first quarter because of turnovers and failed fake punts which put the defense in bad positions.

I mean you act like scoring points in the first half is less valuable than the second half. Every point counts the same, no matter when you get it. This defense has one turnover in 2 games. We make no plays on the ball. We don't get near the QB to disrupt. We are out of position constantly and we leave guys open like you would see at a local high school field.

You can try and spin it any way you want but this defense is bad. The scheme does not fit our personnel at all and our LB core and the interior of this defense is putrid. Secondary sucks, too.

If you watch the games, you'd see that.

We have given up 59 points in 2 games. You are telling me that isn't that bad?

You're right, but sometimes they get run over and the perception is that they're not that good.

I really was trying to point out that after halftime they have played better which is encouraging. It's something to build on.

No, it can improve. But at least they're adjusting to what the offense is doing and as result they're playing better in the 2nd half.

It's not all bad. There are some positives.

But 59 points is 59. I get the turnovers Dallas offense had but at some point, this defense has to make a play of their own and give our offense a short field. They have did that one time this year. This has been a common theme for as long as I can remember. No turnovers at all and we have to drive the length of the field time and time again.

Their problem is they don’t make many plays. They were lucky Atlanta dropped some open passes including a pass on 3rd down and another that should have been a TD. Relying on unforced errors to get off the field is a recipe for disaster when you play a team that doesn’t make those errors.

At least they are consistent. Consistently bad.

If the dline can get consistent pressure that’s going to make this defense a lot better.they haven’t been but think are too talented not to.

let’s give it a couple of weeks. Remember no training camp... no pre season. Guys seemed gassed out there
