Dallas projected 3 comp picks for 2026, for now

Those two are obviously asking for significantly more than vet minimum. Or they’d be signed by now.
Yeah, both were projected for 12m+ at the beginning of FA.

Honestly I don’t worry about contract size. Very (very) few of us have a clue how the can works particularly when it comes to structure and future impact.

Based on contract size.
However we should have got a 3rd this year for Tyron Smith, but since he was a 10 year vet player. Maybe it is 8 years. They can't get more than a 5th.
Not sure when that rule came in.
I think it will be the same for DLaw, depending his contract size.
Even with that veteran rule Tyron wouldn't of been anywhere close to a 3rd. He signed a one year deal that was like half incentive based.

The last offensive tackle to get a 3rd round comp was Mike McGlinchey who signed 5 years 88 million. 49ers picked up a 3rd in the 2024 draft for it.

Say what you will about the comp picks, but the Cowboys turned this years draft into 12 players and I think 11 of them will make the team and the team is getting younger. The overall picture has the team being better than last years team and in good position to build for more improvement in 2026.

If the 3 comp picks holds. That gives us another 10 picks in 2026. Plus I think we are getting a 7h round from a team. I don’t think we gave up any later round picks. I need to look to see for both, get one, gave up one.

That is of course Jerry doesn’t trade away another 4th round pick.
I rather they keep them all for once. Then can move around better.

Wait Detroit got a 3 for their coach?
If a team loses an OC or DC or a player personnel guy if a minority, they automatically get a 3rd round comp. If they are getting a promotion type contract such as a HC or GM.

SF got several two years in a row from that.
It does not count toward the limit of 4 comp picks for losing players.

Wait why didn’t we get one for Quinn?

For what it’s worth, comp picks are a strategy for Philly and SF.
To be fair.. they also spend money in FA to actually fill obvious needs

They’re not just dependent on the draft and search for cheap fill in’s.

Comp picks are great when you use it as a tool. Not solely a draft strategy. We a team avoids significant signings as not to lose a 6th Rd comp pick, that not the best method to building a competitive roster.
