Sdogo gave me the heads up on both - thanks dude

7a #220 – Anthoney Allen, RB, 6-1 #228 Georgia Tech - Big, thick frame with powerful lower body. Strong initial burst through the line, maintaining low center of gravity and secure cradle. Powerful back who keeps his legs moving and displays great balance on contact. Able to maintain his footing when spun around by defenders, even if it means running backward or sideways to continue forward progress. Keeps his weight forward to generate downhill momentum. Never fumbled in four college seasons. Primarily a power back, but flashes adequate cutback and change of direction ability in the open field for his size.

7b #251 - Andrian Moten, OLB, 6-2 #228 Maryland - Two-year starter at OLB is an athletic and versatile prospect who makes plays all over the field. Fast, has fluid hips, can turn and run with TEs and other receivers and has good ball skills. Quick first step, can run around blocks. Good form tackler, shoulder to chest, wraps. Lined up often against the slot receiver and had a lot of corner/nickel assignments as a SAM during the past two seasons. Played some WILL earlier in college career

Only thing I dont like about him, he runs upright too much, wont last long in NFL like that, kinda like jabob big mouth with the giants. And did you see the hole he ran through. Our offensive line doesnt open holes up like that.

I posted an article about Moten, kinda like him too. :starspin

I'm a big Allen fan, I remember a pretty long thread we had about RB's a while ago where he was the guy I tired to pimp but it did not go over well.

I think he reminds too many people of Marion Barber.

IMO, if we can find a younger Marion Barber for another 4 or 5 years we could do worst.

i understand that Sdogo, but arent you worried about his running too high upwards, take alot of hits that way, possibly wear out like jacob rogers has :)

I would not complain if we got another MB3 as he was a few years ago....yes, please.

I'd have no problem if we got another MB3 for a rookie price, instead of for $8 million a year.

Is Allen really better than Lonyae Miller? Just looking back at NFLdraftscout, which is usually pretty good, they had Miller the #10 back out of 131 and a 4th-5th round pick, while they have Allen as #21 out of 193 and a 7th rounder.

I think the Cowboys like Miller quite a bit as well. I have to admit, I don't remember seeing much of him during TC/pre-season.

Green from Hawaii also reminds me of MB3. And Green is a better pass protector and receiver than Allen.

Then again I could be biased. :D

Here is the write up on L Miller from nfldraftscout.com,

Overview
Despite operating as a backup throughout much of his collegiate career and rushing for only 354 yards in 2009, Miller rates as one of the more intriguing running backs of the 2010 draft.

Possessing good size and explosive speed, Miller had improved his production each of his first three seasons, rushing for 287 yards and two scores in 2006, 609 yards and seven touchdowns in 2007 and another 812 and seven scores as a junior.

Great things were projected for him in 2009, but Miller had the misfortune of playing behind Ryan Mathews, who simply led the NCAA with 1,808 rushing yards. Given only 68 carries in 2009, Miller had few opportunities to showcase his ability.

Scouts, however, know what he can do. After all, he had two runs of 80 yards or more a year earlier, as well as another of 68 yards. He was invited to the Senior Bowl to see what he could do against elite competition and his big-play potential stood out in Mobile. He had the game's longest run from a back (18 yards) and finished with a game-high 44 rushing yards.

Miller was never able to establish himself as the go-to back in the WAC, so it's doubtful he'll be able to accomplish that feat in the NFL. However, teams looking for an explosive threat with good size to complement a power back will be certain to consider this one-cut back.

Analysis
Inside: Has the size to be effective inside, but too often dances behind the line of scrimmage to find an opportunity for a big play rather than fight for positive yardage. Good burst through the hole when it is there and can gain yardage in chunks. Good eyes for the cutback, as well as the burst to take advantage. Wraps both arms around the ball securely in tight quarters, but has an upright running style that lends to big hits. Only marginal production in short-yardage situations.

Outside: Patient runner who will allow the hole to open and has the burst to attack when it is there. Good lateral agility to shake the defender in tight quarters and can accelerate off either foot. Good speed to beat the linebacker to the flank and can turn upfield. Good straight-line speed, with a legitimate second gear to pull away when in the open field.

Breaking tackles: Doesn't possess the power runner his size would indicate. Keeps his feet moving, but is only marginally effective at breaking tackles due to his upright running style and only marginal strength, overall. Relies more on his changing of speeds and head fakes to make defenders miss, rather than power and determination to run through their tackles. (I thought that this was interesting.)

Blocking: Squares to the pass rusher in pass protection and provides an initial pop, but lacks the strength or the determination to sustain. Willing downfield blocker who keeps his head on a swivel.

Receiving: Rarely was asked to do anything more than catch swing or screen passes out of the backfield. Has the natural athleticism to warrant development in this area, as he seems comfortable tracking and securing the ball. Has limited experience as a kick returner.

Intangibles: Some upside here as he has a rare combination of size and straight-line speed and has a great deal of tread left on his tires. Quality teammate who handled the demotion behind Ryan Mathews well. Intelligent. Kinesiology major. Has a two year-old son.

Seems like a decent UDFA pick-up and possibly a complementary back. I think we may go the UDFA route again this year for some competition to Miller. Maybe one of the guys in this thread or Bradford out of USC.
