I'm watching the Cowboys vs 49ers NFCC game from the 1992-1993 season on ESPN2, and I was wondering something. Am I the only one that wants to see the Cowboys and 49ers play each other in the NFCC this year? With Jimmy going into the HOF and maybe going into the ROH this year too, how fitting would it be for us to play San Francisco in the NFCC this year? It would be beautiful to see us reignite one of the greatest NFCC rivalries in the NFL while also lifting our curse against an old rival. That would be beautiful to see.

The two best teams ever to take the field right there. The best teams of the last 20 years have been really good at one thing. Both of those teams were really good at everything…

Exactly! What if we got another chance to play them? I think we've played against them in the playoffs more than anyone, especially in the conference championships.

The Cowboys also played the 49ers in the NFC championship games of 1970 and 1971, before their first two Super Bowl appearances. In fact, they faced each other in the playoffs three consecutive years. The Cowboys won all three.

After losing to the Cowboys in two consecutive NFC championship games, they faced them again in 1972, the year Roger was out for teh entire regular season. In that particular playoff game they were leading 28-13 going into the 4th quarter. The 49ers layers were talking smacl, asking Cowboys players how it felt to lose. That's why I can't pity the 49ers for what happened nect.

Out comes Roger onto the field. He hasn't played in a year.

We all know the story...Cowboys 30 49ers 28.

The Cowboys have played the 49ers in 6 NFC championship games winning four of them. The two losses were "The Catch" and "The 21 Point Lead".

Lifting the curse? Pretty sure that happened in the 2 NFC title games in the 90s we beat their arses in.

Those games were better than the Super Bowl, in my opinion

We owned the 49ers. And then for a while they beat us up. And then we owned them again. You have to love rivalries

Considering the Cowboys have not made it to the championship game in a quarter century, I would be thrilled if they managed to make it to one regardless of who the competition is.

You better believe it. And poor old Buffalo was the victim. Imagine going to the SB four straight years and coming out with nothing. Just going to the Bowl is a feat in itself. But they are never mentioned as a team for the ages like the Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys, Patriots....tough cookies.

IM from NorCal and it is 49er territory up here, followed by the Raiders and Cowboys as far as fan bases go.

I vividly remember the 81 nfc title game and a friend who was a postman lost a bet and had to do his route on a big wheel after the Cowboys lost that game.

I am 51, and in my lifetime, Im not sure there was a more anticipated rivalry/games than those 90s matchups. The 49ers and Cowboys were clearly the 2 best teams and whomever got to the SB was likely winning it.

Speaking of San Francisco, people are certainly sleeping on them.

A year ago they had one of the best rosters in the league and had made the SB.

Anything that could have gone wrong last year did go wrong.

If anyone is to believe Dallas will rebound this year the same logic applies to SF.

They are my pick to be one of the NFC CG participants. I'll reserve comment on the other but I'll give a hint.....the OP gets his wish.

I agree with this. Too many people have forgotten and are sleeping on San Francisco. They're going to be a factor this year to watch for. I think SFO goes to the NFCC, and I think I'm going to get my wish. I want us to battle them, and I think we'd win that game. Sidenote, if we do play them in the NFCC, I think we will go the SB.

I think the odds of the Cardinals moving back into the NFC East are better than the odds of a Dallas - San Fran NFC championship game.
