Does anyone actually think we won't get the #1 pick from Miami? Think about it for a moment. BP lives by this unwritten code of ethics that you don't go after a former teams players. He refused to bring in Vinaterri (sp?), after he left NE, because of his former relationship with Bellicheat. Also, he "chastised" Sean Payton publicly for attempting to sign Dallas' free agents and players. BP has often talked about the unwritten code, and I feel that this code also extends to front office personnel as well. The fact that JJ is being so accommodating in BP's efforts to "take" most of our scouting department to Miami, tells me that there must be an agreement between the two. If not, then BP would lose considerable face among his peers for not living up to the code that he has preached for coaches to honor. I've watched/listened to BP for many years now and one thing that I always respected about him is that he's not a liar or a hypocrite. I can't remember any interview in which he's told one lie. If he's asked a question that he doesn't want to answer truthfully, he usually just finessed his way around it w/o lying. This shows me he's a man of integrity that lives by a certain standard. The only way BP can come out of this "raiding" of our front office, with his name and reputation intact, is to show his peers that this was done with JJ's approval by trading away the #1 pick to Dallas. JMO, what do you guys/gals think?

That is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Getting the #1 pick isn't even in the realm of possiblities.

Yes. In fact, I would say 99.9% of cowboy fans don't believe we will get the #1 pick.

And God help us if we do. I will cry.

I'm with you, I will cry if we give away that many draft picks for 1 guy.
the #1 pick will cost us too much $$$$$$ that we can use towards signing
some of our other guys or FA's.

In a such a deep draft I can see us swapping up 4-6 spots to get a player. It's way too pricey to even consider going up to #1 overall.

There really is no one player at the top of the draft, that I would think we give away the farm to get, This is going to be a good draft their is plenty of good talent available

Right here. There is no way, and I mean NO WAY we trade up for the #1 pick. Book it!

Just to clarify things. I didn't mean to give the impression, in the thread starter, that I wanted Dallas to trade up to #1. I just wanted your opinions on if you thought something was in the works between JJ & BP. I think DMac is a talented player, but the cost/risk of moving up to get him are too great. I would much rather stay where we are and get players like R.Rice/L.Sweed/A.Cason/Talib/Doucet etc. I just hope JJ infatuation with DMac doesn't make him risk the future of this franchise on a player that is far from a sure thing.

I don't really expect us to trade up either. I also agree with the above posters that think this would be too costly AND a BAD IDEA. But his idea is not out of the realm of possibility. Earlier this season Jerry made a statement that if you have a team that is a SuperBowl contender, it might make more sense to package up multiple picks to get that one "WOW PLAYER". If he thinks that McFadden is that player, he might just do this.
