Lee is under contract until end of 2019 season. If released before next season - Dead money hit is only 3 million (restructured money). Problem is his 10 million cap hit for 2019 season for what will be part-time player who doesn't play special teams.

Best case scenario is for him to stay with team & be LB coach for 2019. I see him eventually being a DC and this would be great LB group to coach and built up his resume.

I think the best case is he gets reps replacing Wilson and it works out.

LVE / Smith / Lee could be one of if not the greatest LB core in NFL history.

I think LB coach is a job on the table if he wants it.

Lee is not healthy and I am willing to bet he plays a couple more games this year and then is released in the off-season

I hope he plays another year. He is as valuable as a mentor to our young LBs as he is a player.
He’s had the same effect on LVE as Romo had on Dak in 2016. I want that to continue for another year. I don’t want LVE and Jaylon to regress next year.

Prove your case, with real team analysis or rehab information...not just a bunch of not on active list.

Many linebackers are useful into older ages as well. Their bags are full of tricks. He does have value as an on field analyst and play maker.

Pretty obvious that he either agrees to some sort of restructure/pay cut or he’s released. He’s expensive and the 3rd best LB on the team at this point. Love the guy and what he’s done, but the Cowboys are in the business of winning football games

You sounds like an old LB! Lol!!

I say restructure and extend the deal to three years. Part time player extends his career and transition into coaching. Great mentor to LVE and Jaylon.

I will always hold Lee in the highest regard. He's what a true linebacker is supposed to be. But his style is to play all out, with complete recklessness. He sacrifices himself like the true warrior he is, but the downside to his playing style, is he gets injured. All the time! And he will get injured again. Cowboys will cut him this season. It's nothing personal, just the nature of the game and business surrounding it. Hopefully he can stick around as a coach etc. The Cowboys are loaded at LB for the next few years at least.

They will not release him.

If anything they could extend him a couple of years and lower his cap hit.

But they are not doing what they did with Dez.

Lee will be gone after this season unless they restructure his contract. If he has a desire to coach in the league, it will be a good opportunity to try and negotiate a position on staff after his run as a player.

Not a word wasted, Coach.:)

Jaylon & LVE are both great, but who do we have behind them if we cut Lee? That team strength takes a nose dive if one of them goes down.

Golden Tate might put him out of commission next week

Holy crap...bet, let's do a sig bet, here and now. If Golden Tate has more than 60 yards receiving, my sig states: I'm a hero idiot!

If not, your signature block reads, Holy Crap, I'm an Idiot...(for a week)

Your 'wallet' where your mouth is?

They will not keep him at his current number. It’s up to Lee if he wants to stay a Cowboy, I’m sure they’ll give him a fair offer.

If Lee wants to maximize his salary and be a full time player, he won’t be a Cowboy.

I really hope he has interest in becoming LB coach and I hope the front office is smart enough to make him coach if he does indeed have interest.

I love that idea, and can only hope that both sides can come to a reasonable compromise. But Lee and his agent need to be honest about his health situation.
