Dallas wins coin flip and #16 pick in Draft

I thought for sure the league would conspire against us on this one.

Sturm made a great point with the coin flip. This is a 50 point difference in the trade chart. Which equates to a later 4th round pick should the Cowboys look to trade.

Might as well have said "when" instead of "should" the Cowboys look to trade.

I am way more excited about this than I probably should be. #DatOffseason

Hooray, the Cowboys get their first win of the 2014 season.

The Dallas Cowboys, and their fanbase, received a little bit of good news this morning as the team won a coin toss with the Baltimore Ravens for the right to pick 16th in the upcoming draft. The Cowboys and Ravens had finished the 2013 season with identical 8-8 records and their strength of schedule was also tied at .484. Thus, the NFL conducted a coin toss this morning at the NFL combine to break the tie and the 'Boys came out on top. Maybe we can take this as a good omen for the 2014 season.

Recent picks in at the 16th spot in NFL drafts include E.J. Manuel, Bills (2013), Quinton Coples, Jets (2012), Ryan Kerrigan, Commanders (2011) and Derrick Morgan, Titans (2010).

The NFL Draft will begin on Thursday, May 8 with the first round, followed by the second and third rounds on Friday, May 9 and concluding with rounds four through seven on Saturday, May 10.

Yea, it's all good until the guy the Ravens pick at 17 outshines the guy we pick at 16, .. and the media starts saying it didn't matter that we won the toss back in Feb.

When did I become so cynical?

(LOL, .. trust me, I am not cynical at all anywhere in my life outside of the Cowboys.)

I have to admit I am pleased.

I honestly thought it would land on its side.

How does this work? Do they take turns drafting first in each round? Or does Dallas go ahead of Baltimore in every round now?

We won the toss, .. we should always pick ahead of Baltimore.

But who knows how it will actually turn out.

This is actually a HUGE deal for this reason. SF and Seattle will probably want to get ahead of Baltimore to draft a WR or TE in Seattle's case. Being behind them would have hurt our trade possibilities. Being ahead of them especially right before them is fantastic!

If we could somehow get one of either Sea or SF 2nd rounders it would be amazing.

I absolutely think we trade down in this draft. I'm not convinced any of the defensive linemen are the answer in the first round and would rather see us have more picks to hopefully add quality depth and youth than take one DT or DE and watch the remaining depth/talent dry up.
