Traded the 14th pick to Seattle for 32, 64, 96 with a future 2,3 picks. Without the picks, it still resolves some issues.

21.
DAL
C.J. Allen LB Georgia - Fast Old School Mike LB.....should be starting by mid year
32.
SEA
Cashius Howell EDGE Texas A&M
trade-icon
- LDE pass rush with Clowney and DEze. Use Osa for running downs.
64.
SEA
Genesis Smith S Arizona
trade-icon
- Should be starting by mid to late year.
96.
SEA
Monroe Freeling OT Georgia
trade-icon
- next LT allowing you options at RT, quick feet and size/power
114.
DAL
Jacob Rodriguez LB Texas Tech- Just makes plays....will be a Will and just make plays
154.
DAL
Domani Jackson CB Alabama - 5 star with the speed needed. Injury question, but if not, he would be drafted earlier
177.
DAL
Bud Clark S TCU - Will need a year with weight gain, but has good instincts for a FS. Nice ball hawk instincts.
2027 SF 2nd
2027 PIT 3rd

So your D with Osa, Clark, QWillams, at the DT. DEze, Clowney, CHowell at the DE. Overshown, CJAllen, James, Marist, LWison and Rodriquez are all of a sudden not a huge weakness. Two new safeties to develop, and an additional CB with speed.

Offense doesn't get much help, but a good 3rd round OT prospect with good feet and size makes for development.

What are your thoughts? Would this draft help the Cowboys to at least start the way to getting better?

When all players are in the “should be starting by mid to late year” category then its not a good draft for a 7-9-1 (potentially) team with glaring weaknesses and a bottom 5 defense
A good draft gets you 3 starters. And I dont mean rookie starters. If you are expecting to fix this defense with just this draft, you are going to be very disappointed

That players may not pan out is a different argument but your top 2 picks at least should be expected to start on a historically bad defense

Arguably the worst defense in the league is not going to be fixed by 3 mid season rookie starters.

Jerry needs to trade for Crosby. It will immediately take our D from bottom 30, to low 20's by itself.

I agree. You want starters. My problem is that you "should" have a new DC, and I have never thought rookies should be starting before mid year. They should prove they are better than the existing players on the team. I don't believe in starting players due to draft position and money -- you start and utilize them based upon merit and what they actually accomplish. I see 4 starters, and 3 more with the ceiling of being a starter. That would be an awesome draft if they all panned out.

I Hate trading our best pic but y if the draft works out like this ,ok then

last play of Allens career was a concussion.I am intrigued by Howell ,he is not sackless overrated Edge rusher from previous seasons from A&M.
