I know this is NFL news but there has been discussion here of bringing him back and tats he’s bottom of charts. Doubt this lasts long and Nagy is an idiot but oh well

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Andy Dalton's starting job is safe -- at least for Week 1.

Chicago Bears coach Matt Nagy reaffirmed the team's decision to open the regular season with Dalton at quarterback when he announced on Tuesday that Dalton will not play in Chicago's regular-season finale at Tennessee because the veteran will be the team's Week 1 starter.

Who gives them the best chance to win games in 2021? Dalton or the rookie Fields? We need the Bears to have a good season in order to worsen the Giants extra 1st round draft pick. I'm OK with Dalton at this point.

No surprise. They aren't throwing the rookie out to wolves just yet.

IMO Fields will start sooner than later unless Dalton does enough to eek out wins.

It's actually a smart move. Fans always want to rush the rookie out there - Mahomes didn't start a game until week 17 his rookie year. The Bears are going to LA to face Aaron Donald in week 1 and their offensive line isn't great. No reason to throw Fields to the wolves straight away. His time will come soon enough.

Somewhere Catch22 is throwing a party that his hero found a starting job. After all he said he would be better than Dak.

That starting job wont last long. Fields is much better.

I get it in a sense but Nagy and the GM are already on a hot seat. They finally get lucky with a QB to draft and now are going to sit him. After living there 4 yrs and seeing how fans react this won’t end well for Dalton unless he’s a stud

Well put but as I said just above I think the pressure for coach etc from fans might overtake logic. It may get brutal with fans and that’s a place where they listen

The fans were already screaming for Fields in a preseason game. Fields called it disrespectful to Dalton and asked the fans not to do that.
Paying fans do not want to see Dalton. The paying customer gets what the paying customer wants.

We as Dallas fans want Dalton to start, and want him to succeed for the most part.
So we can keep that projected 4th round comp pick. As it is the only one we may get. We also do not have our 7th round pick. That goes to Houston for yet another wasted trade for DT Anou.

And I doubt we trade any players before cut downs for any mid to late round picks. We always think we can, but never do. Not for a very long time anyway.
Fun to speculate trades though.

This is the safest way to play it. Put Dalton in and let him cut his own throat. The moment he screws up give him the hook. Then its justified. You stick Fields in there and he struggles early and then goto Dalton, then you are in big trouble. And you will be hated for possibly ruining Fields.

The paying customers get what the HC say they get.
Well except in a few cases the owner wants his way. And not just Jerry, others pull rank also. :muttley:

Because they know what EVERYONE in the world knows other than CATCH................that Dalton sucks.

I feel like they're only doing this because it became public that they promised it to him.

Fields will take over at the slightest Dalton mistake. He's going to be on the shortest leash ever.

Give him 6 weeks and see where they are. But you know the fans will scream, or continue to scream for Fields after the 1st incomplete pass.
You know like the anti-Daksters on here do.

If they are 2-4, then then maybe Fields gets in, especially if Dalton gets a 7th game and they lose. 3-3, Dalton most likely stays in. Unless he is struggling, and the defense is winning the games more so than Andy.

I would not say that. Dalton is a pretty good QB in my opinion.

As a starter he sucks. One of the worst in the NFL. Its why only 1 team would give him a job. Its why he was a backup last year.
