Dalvin Cook doesn't feel he's lost a step at all.

It's no secret that the Dallas Cowboys are going to a running-back-by-committee scenario in 2024 after failing to address the position in the NFL draft. When the dust settled from picking the 53-man roster, the Cowboys went with Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, and Hunter Luepke (fullback) at the running back position. However, Dallas still felt they needed more and had veteran Dalvin Cook come in for a visit.

In Dallas, Cook will be on the practice squad. So, he'll be used as insurance in case one of the guys above him gets an injury or is inactive which is the perfect scenario for him because being tasked with a big load isn't something he needs to be doing at this stage in his career. Despite what was seen a year ago, Cook still believes that when his number is called, he can find that other gear and make plays.

Why are most of you so down on the guy? Basing opinions on a bad 2023 only? I have no idea what he will bring to the team, but previous to last year he had 4 consecutive years of over 1,000 yards rushing and pretty much averaged 10 td's/year to go with that. Is there a RB on this team that makes you feel more tingly? If so, state your case please so I can understand this better

If any of the backs we enter the season with don’t perform at a high level or we suffer an injury, Cook will get his opportunity.

You know, I would have no issue if Dallas cut Zeke and started Cook instead. Last season was Cooks worst of his career, but the year before that . He had a good season, maybe the Jets were just a bad situation for him

Imagine if we rolled with Henry, Dowdle, and Luepke. Wouldn't even need to mess around with any committees, and would have a much more balanced offense.
Their logic being "we got Zeke and Cook for less than Henry would've cost". The crazy thing is with Henry, this offense could've been unstoppable. Would've relieved a ton of pressure from the defense, and we may have been looking at a major contender. A couple million dollars is the difference between having Henry vs Zeke and Cook. Annoying to think about.

Offense would have been better. Definitely nowhere near unstoppable. Not with Mr. Thousand yard stare in the playoffs.

No telling, but establishing a dominate running game was the formula for success earlier in Dak's career. Would make alot of sense to try to replicate that now that he's matured as a passer, but hasn't done enough to get over the hump.

He is the best RB on the roster. That's not a good thing.

Because last year is the most recent body of work. It’s important to not reflect back further than that with an aging running back with a ton of use. I’m not expecting much

Cook’s best attribute was his speed. Does he still have that?

Doesn’t matter who the RBs are if the revamped OL is not playing well. Always makes me nervous when players, the rookie o-linen in Dallas’ case, are labeled with superlatives without playing a single regular season snap against legit NFL talent.

Because he was also pretty pedestrian in 2022 and is now 29 years old.

He can come in and give you a solid performance, but he's not any type of game breaker. Just a solid vet.
