Dan Bailey stats

He's made 12 of his 13 fg attempts and has made all 8 between 30-50. NFL.com has him atop their list of fg stats (even though a few below him have made all 10 of their attempts I guess because he's attempted more that makes him ranked higher.)

It appears that we have found our kicker??? (fingers crossed)

We definitely have a good FG kicker. He's still got a ways to go on kickoffs if we want to carry only one kicker.

IIRC he was doing a much better job last week than he had been. Of course I may be remembering incorrectly.

Forbath should be getting back to practice soon. Don't know where he fits in but he is also a Groza award winner.

Nick Folk was the guy once as well. So frankly its a little early.

He was fine until he got injured and had surgery.

With 45 points, Bailey is tied for the second-most points by any rookie (kicker or non-kicker) in the first four games of any season since 1960.

The only player since 1960 who scored more points in the first four games of his rookie season also played for the Cowboys. And the guy with whom Bailey is tied for second also played for the Cowboys, but not when he was a rookie.

Folk is still one of the best. We quit on him too soon.

Exactly. People need to quit comparing Bailey to Folk. The reason Folk lost his groove was due to the injury.

The answers are ... Richie Cunningham (53 points in the first four games of 1997) and Eddie Murray (45 points in the first four games of 1980 with Detroit).

Bailey also is fifth in Cowboys history for points in the first four games of a season. Emmitt holds the record at 54 points in 1995, followed by Cunningham, Rafael Septien (51 in 1981), Dan Reeves (48 in 1966) and Bailey.

He has a bigger leg then Bailey, if he can be as accurate, I expect him to be the single kicker by next year. The problem is, how do you get him the game time work without cutting Bailey first? I'd hate to see them let the two battle in camp next year and go with Forbath just based on fake games and practice.

I guess if we were to cut Buehler we could let Forbath handle kick offs and long FG's later this year? And give him a few 4th quarter kicks if we have a solid lead.

I do know I'd rather go with just Bailey right now and deal with some of his kicks being retunable since our coverage has been good. Keeping two kickers is a wast at this point, Buehler would not have impacted any of the games he's missed so far.

while I think we could have gone IR on him, it would be well to remember that it was another year + before he got his groove back. So we would have had to have gotten rid of him no matter what. No way you can wait two years on a kicker. No one does that.

I agree, we had no choice but to let him go. He was about the same as Buehler last year in FG's but worse on kick offs. He's looking good this year but it's a long season, he may or may not return to his old form long term.
