I agree. I think it will take 2 years to fix what Jerry broke last year. Look at all the player we lost to free agency while we did nothing to replace them. We have a lot of draft picks but we are not fixing the problem because we have 4 5th round picks. The Cowboys have to hope they can find the right guys in the next 2 drafts and they don't lose everyone to free agency again.

And there is the Dak contract problem. They need an exit plan in case Dak does not come back better than last year. That means swallowing the bitter pill of taking a $90 million CAP hit in 2025. There is no way out of that. If they restructure him, the delay the necessary retooling.

And how do we know Jerry will not delay extending Micah only to give him a ridiculous contract as well? Are we going to commit $100 million to Micah and Dak for the next 4 years? Dak's contract is sickening. And every time I think of it it just makes me an angry Cowboys fan.

We aren't catching the Eagles anytime soon and the Commanders look firmly entrenched behind them. The draft is deep at QB next year. Trade Dak for 2 first round picks. Trade Micah for 2 first round picks. Trade CD for a first. That's 5 #1 picks to add to our own giving this team the ammunition and cap flexibility it's going to need to build a contender. Dak just signed for a historic amount. The dead cap would be too staggering to trade him any time soon. You could ruin your cap this year and next by not restructuring his deal and then trade him in 2027, or do the normal restructures and the earliest out is 2028.
