Dan Quinn on Brian Schottenheimer

Commanders coach Dan Quinn worked with new Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer in New York (2007-2008) and Dallas (2022-2023). Quinn said when they were with the Jets that he saw how “excellent” Schottenheimer was. “I knew then that he had rare things about him.”

Quinn said Schottenheimer helped him “a lot” in his role as a coaching analyst in 2022 in Dallas.

“He’s gonna do a fantastic job. He has high-level coaching and high-level relatability. When you put those two things together, that’s a really rare combination. And he’s got them both.”

You are basically saying these coaches one day may be working for Brian.
So is that not like saying they really must think highly of him in order to keep the peace. For if they ever work for him?

Yeah this is not news at all. When is the last time a HC was asked about another HC and they bad mouthed them? No matter what the coach that was asked the question is going to take the respectful route. Not saying that their is any bad blood at all or Schotty isnt a good football guy, but youll hardly ever get a fully truthful answer here.

If DQ really thought Schotty was that rare he could have easily given him the assistant HC title and brought him to Washington with him.

I dont think they are hate responses...well 90% of them are not at least. its just silly to take a coaches comment like this at face value. Coach speak is a real thing, and typically coaches hate talking with the media. These guys dont want drama, they dont want their quotes being posted in the opposing teams locker room before a game. These guys are supposed to be a leader for their locker rooms, and if they dont want their team talking trash in the media they will lead by example and not do it either.

Not saying there is any issue between Schotty and DQ, but it would be ridiculous to say anything other than exactly what DQ said here.
