If we want a steady old hand to hold the wheel until Garrett is ready, why not Dan Reeves for a year or two? I'd prefer Gary Gibbs, but much prefer Reeves to Norv Turner. Thoughts?

Dan's hands probably aren't too steady anymore.

I think you have started enough threads to voice your displeasure at the prospect of Norv. We get it.

Never Happen.

Jerry does not have the same love for most of the cowboy players that were here before he bought the team.

Which is a shame IMO.

Not that I want Reeves, but I think it would be nice if he was at least given a chance to interview as a courtesy of being a long time cowboy back in the day.

I wouldn't necessarily be gung ho about Reeves, but I like the experience he'd bring to the table to go with the seemingly inexperienced coordinators Dallas will have on staff.

He is simply too old.

Huh? Compared to what? I'd consider it a youth movement since he's younger than Parcells. ;)

But anyway, yeah, he's made sense to me for the short term ever since the day we hired Garrett.

The Prophet would be okay with Dan Reeves. He would do as well as the stodgy BP did, that is for sure.

Hiring a coach with only 1-2 years in mind is a ridiculous proposition. Why plan for the short term when it comes to team leadership?

So what is your solution? Hire Norv to a fat, long term contract???! Please...

I would love to see Dan Reeves brought in here as the new head coach. Based on his history, you know he can get you to the Super Bowl and who knows, maybe with the help of the Zebras and some luck, he coudl win one here.

He wont get a shot here because it makes too much sense.

sad that even we resigned ourselves to look for a placeholder instead of getting a real head coach.

we did it for parcells and everyone loved it. i agree it doesn't make much sense unless known and part of a larger plan.

but parcells was the guy that turned around every team he went to for the better and had a HOF track record. we're now looking at guys that have been fired multiple times after unsucessful stints and we're looking for them to just hold the position until someone else is ready to take over. this with a team that is definetly talented enough to be a contender.

It's a shame that there isn't anyone on the board that has any power to do anything about it....

What I find curiOUs is that Reeves has absOlUtely no ties to the state of Oklahoma, and yet he is the topic of a post by Philo.
