Dan Skipper, OT

Let's say this again-

Chaz Green didnt yield a sack-EVER- while playing at UF..... Which includes the above mentioned SEC

Go watch tape on Green the 1st 3wks last year..... It's a thing of beauty!
1) that may be true
2) he was a rotation at tackle. If he never gave up a sack, shouldn't he had been gotten most if not all of the snaps
3) being available on Sundays is a skill. If you can't get on the field, you are worthless to the team.

Skipper is the ideal guy to bring in as an UDFA. The odds are stacked against him and there is no doubt he has weaknesses that may stop him from ever making an NFL roster. Although by his highlights there are times when he pile drives defenders and destroys them.
Now in todays NFL, teams are much more likely to put their best pass rusher over the right tackle as they are typically not as strong in pass protection as the left tackle. I know I would do this if Tyron Smith was on the other side. So, being able to be a good pass blocker is a necessary now for Right tackles. A few years ago, DJ Fluker was drafted in the first round. He was another massive guy but he could not overcome his slow feet. It will be an uphill battle for Skipper but as an UDFA you just look for a few things he does really well and see if you can mask his weaknesses.

I said I may be wrong, but from watching him that's the opinion I came to. I'm not interested in being right to the point that I hate a Cowboy player because they made me look foolish. I want him to contribute! It's never personal. I don't know any of these players.

I'll give you a little grace but, please remember that most in this board don't know you either and I surmise that you wouldn't appreciate
being called a bum.

You guys might not like him now, but you will love him when we move him to TE. :) (kidding)

Definitely an interesting guy to keep an eye on. Probably a PS guy the first year, but curious to see how he does at that height against NFL DEs. A year of training on and off the field could produce a swing tackle out of him.

slow.
way too much holding.
overmatched alot.

but trys to fight to the whistle and is always trying to help others.

yea but he is sloppy player - slow footed - gets pushed around

he won't impress me at this level

might as well start selling cars

Something tells me he won't be selling cars if he doesn't make it.

I lay the odds at 50/50 that SkipDawg pops up here over the next month or so :)

6-9? Holding? Slow? Overmatched? Plays aggressive to the whistle?

Sounds similar to Phil Pozderac. He could be a quality backup.

I've only seen a few over 6'8.

Too Tall Jones - 6'9
Richard Sligh - 7'0 .. lasted one season - DT
Jonathan Ogden / Jared Gaither - 6'9 - OL
Morris Stroud - 6'10 - Tight end

There may be a couple of OL off this list, and Sligh and Stroud played way back in the day
There was fringe guy named Rockwell in Buffalo that was 6-11 I believe

I'm a big Razorback fan, and I hope Dan Skipper improves enough to make the team, but that's just the Razorback homer in me.. I saw too many times where his size was a hindrance more than an advantage. He seems so slow. If he doesn't make contact right away the DE can easily blow past him as he isn't quick enough to adjust to get back on his blocks.
I was mentioning on Twitter about him getting signed and a couple of Razorback fans said the same thing as you. I was excited when I seen his name and that's pretty much gone now. Oh well. They got other guys to look at

Alejandro Villanueva is 6'9", and the starting LT for Pittsburgh.

Along same lines, Stephan Jones pointed out that its getting increasingly difficult to get undrafted OL to come to Dallas because they are so stacked at those positions.

They actually rotated Green in college to attempt to keep him healthy. They wanted to limit his snaps.
