Saw this on the Athletic.

His top draft class is the Eagles. Favorite pick- Landon Dickerson. Day three pick that could surprise- Zech Mcphearson.

#15 Washington- Favorite pick- Dyami Brown. Day three pick that could surprise- Darrick Forrest

#18 Giants- Favorite pick- Azzez Ojulari. Day three pick that could surprise- Rodarious Williams

#24 Cowboys- Favorite pick- Micah Parsons. Day three pick that could surprise-Jabril Cox

Best draft in TX Though. As Houston comes in at #32. Cowboys!

Not big on Washingtons draft tbh. I like Davis as a player, but they should have taken a WR there. They need skill players on offense bad. Brown was a nice rebound in the 3rd, but that offense is still going to be very bad. The Cowboys, Eagles and Giants all had better drafts than they did IMO

Man screw Dane Brugler. Who even is that guy?

Never heard of him.

Not crazy.

He's generally pretty good

That's actually pretty generous to us. We drafted like we had pick 27 in each round

I spent all weekend listening to him on the fan. He was basically the talent evaluator of the crew, puts together a pre-draft guide for the athletic. He was pretty reasonable...and even when we picked a guy higher than he had them on his board, which was often, he was able to talk about characteristics the guy had that the Cowboys were looking for and could turn him into a good pick.

So high hopes don't outweigh big question marks?

Oh I know. I love Dane. Does a great job. That post was total sarcasm.

As far as the grading. I mean yeah I can understand Dane’s grade due to the perceived value of the picks. So it’s a fair grading.

I have big questions about the 3rd round picks Myself.

so those questions will always be there.

we as fans just have to hope that a few of those guys pan out more than anticipated.

Ha, I hadn’t really heard of him until this weekend. I did wonder for the first time how much searching for specific qualities in guys alters the grading. Guys who create their big boards are looking at overall ability and not grading players for specific systems. I would think that guys near the top of the board aren’t as affected by system as guys farther down.

that’s what I keep telling myself anyway.

I think that is a piece of the puzzle.

Going forward. Just a heads up. Dane Brugler does a draft guide every year. Usually released a few weeks before the draft. Called “the beast”. It’s well worth the money. The most comprehensive draft guide available.

Ron Rivera did the same thing here for the Panthers. He'd load up on defense and drafted practically nothing for Cam Newton. He's heavy on defense which is understandable based on his background. But still......I'm not mad at it.

Can't link it but....

Eagles 1
Commanders 15
Giants 18

And ...

24. Dallas Cowboys

1 12 Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
2 44 Kelvin Joseph, CB, Kentucky
3 75 Osa Odighizuwa, DT, UCLA
3 84 Chauncey Golston, edge, Iowa
3 99 Nahshon Wright, CB, Oregon State
4 115 Jabril Cox, LB, LSU
4 138 Josh Ball, OT, Marshall
5 179 Simi Fehoko, WR, Stanford
6 192 Quinton Bohanna, DT, Kentucky
6 227 Israel Mukuamu, CB, South Carolina
7 238 Matt Farniok, OT/G, Nebraska

Favorite pick: Micah Parsons, LB, Penn State
Regardless of what they say publicly, the Cowboys hoped to draft a cornerback in the first round before they saw two top-level prospects go just before they came on the clock. Nonetheless, Parsons is one of the best talents in this draft class with his athletic traits, especially downhill attacking the pocket. I’m eager to see how new coordinator Dan Quinn plans to deploy his skills.

Day 3 pick who could surprise: Jabril Cox, LB, LSU
The Cowboys came close to spending pick No. 99 on Cox, but were still able to land him 16 picks later. With entrenched starters Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith, along with Parsons, it is a crowded linebacker depth chart in Dallas, but Cox’s coverage abilities will make him a match-up defender.
