There was surprisingly a lot of talk about Duke last night on the Cowboys Draft Show. Maybe he's in play after all

Rather have Coleman or Buck Allen over Duke

I like Duke Johnson but I don't think he's an every down back. I think that if the Cowboys drafted him, they would have to find touches for him in the Offense. The question is really, would we do that? We say we would but honestly, I don't think we would. The Offense is going to go through Dez, whomever emerges as our 2nd WR, Witten and our primary RB. That is not going to leave a lot of snaps for a guy who is not part of the core offense. I think we would have all the best intentions but I don't think it would happen. Duke in an offense like Chips would be scary. In Dallas, I think he would be underutilized.

I'm right there with you. Say no to RB in the first 3 rounds.

I disagree. We are living in Jerry's fantasy land if we think we can just plug any RB behind that O-line and we will be fine.

What made us a good team last year was the fact we ran it down teams throats. I think RB is top priority. We would have beat Green Bay if not for the bad call. Defense that we had. I think we should have moved up and got Gordon.

I don't break down film like some, but I've seen Duke play quite a bit being here in ACC country. I think he could be a 20 carry a game guy. He's had some injuries but there were a few games last year, where he just seemed to get stronger as the game wore on. He's also a very good receiver out of the back field.

agree,he could be a every down back.my only concern with him is injuries but i had the same concerns about Murray too.

Adding impact defenders will have a bigger influence on team success than adding a rb who may or may not be able to beat out our incumbents...in an area of strength.

He might be, but he really hasn't proven to be that at Miami. I believe that last year was his best year, in terms of number of carries. I think he averaged 18 carries a game or so, last season. I don't think that gets better when he gets to the NFL. JMO

On some level I agree. I don't think this team has really ever shown the ability to get the secondary players involve consistently at any position. However, a lot of that (at RB) was due to the fact that Murray was just so damn good at everything. If he's got gas, why would anyone ever sub him out to get an inferior player on the field?

He is suspended 10 games. how are we going to get any pressure on guys like Brady. Rodgers on one leg did not teach some of you anything.

Chill...okay. He's not going to be out 10 games and you know that before you wrote it. He will most likely get
between 4 & 6 games after the appeal. Marinelli also likes Jack Crawford & Ben Gardner (who has really added
the muscle Broaddus hears) as LDE candidates for this year. We also have Lawrence & Mincy who should
perform well again this year. We will be able to field a pretty good team come September and just
remember that we have a full compliment of LB's to play behind them. Unless the injury bug bites, we
should be at least as good as last year and we won 12 games.

Funny how no one talked about Johnson and said Dallas had no interest since we didn't bring him in but now everywhere you look he is being linked to us.

I get that but I'm not sure it would change, even with the loss of Murray. I mean, I look at who we are and I just don't see that changing much. I don't think our D is as good as it needs to be yet. I think we are a good season or two away from being a really good D. If you go away from that balanced offense by controlling the clock with the run game, then you expose your defense. I don't know if that would be a good thing. You also go more to a big play type offense. I mean, we all know that it's the consistent threat of the run game that makes defenses play us honest. You change that and you may just put more pressure on Tony and the passing game. Do we really want that? I know that we say these things in the off season but when we get into the season, you tend to stick with what works.

Reminds me of when I was a kid. I played for a coach who would always bring in a new offense every spring and we would run different offense but at the end, we always went back to the same offense and we ran it the entire season. I just don't know that we would make the changes needed and if we did, I am not entirely sure that it would be a good thing of us.

They started talking about him as soon as the news about Ajayi's knee came out.

I will ask this again. WHERE IS THE PASS RUSH ? we draft a CB and a RB. WHERE IS THE PASS RUSH? only 28 sacks last year. right near the bottom of the NFL.

2nd year guys usually make a nice jump.
I'm sure they're counting on Lawrence doing that.
Also, since Crawford didn't have a training camp at DT, I suspect they think he'll be better too.
Then there's Hardy--which will end up missing 6-8 games.

They may draft someone too if they the value is right and he's not a crackhead.

Ain't nothing wrong with Duke Johnson. But if Coleman is gone, I think they wait until the third round for a RB and grab a DL right here.

The guy I really want is Carl Davis in this round. Don't think he gets to Dallas though.
