Dane Brugler on our pick at 24

I actually think Kellen would use him creatively but don’t think the OL would be in a good shape to block for him. Don’t forget a big reason Deebo does what he does is because the Niners run over everyone and that’s who everyone is comparing Burks to

I think Burks, Green, and Johnson will be closely rated players. I’d be happy with either player. I just don’t see Jerry passing up a WR to take a Guard. We’ll soon see.

If it's Burks I will be

Why? Are you a professional scout who has picked all the right players in the draft and none of the wrong ones?

I just don't understand this attitude. Did you feel that way about the Frederick pick? How about the Parsons pick?

I'm not advocating for picks, I just want to understand why some act like they know how these players will turn out.

I think we would have to come back with an interior OL in the second because of the question marks there. I'd prefer we go with Zion or Green (depending on the knee) at 24 just because we need to repair the line, but I'm not going to be upset if Burks is the pick. Maybe I will be if he busts, but no reason to fret initially.

No and no. I was against Parsons in December as @CalPolyTechnique likes to remind me but in April I has no issue with Micah. Burks is weak bro. He's not going to be a first round typewr..

Folks just about lost their mind with Parsons last year. How wrong were they ? If the player you want is there take him.

Right. I don't pretend I know more than the Cowboys' full-time scouting staff. I may have certain players that I prefer just based on what I've seen and read, but that doesn't mean they are going to turn out to be good. I know the players the team picks might not turn out to be good, either, but that's just part of the draft. There's more reason to trust them than there is those on this board who spend a fraction of the time studying these players and certainly don't get to interview them or go over their medical reports.

It doesn't mean we shouldn't discuss what we like and don't like about prospects, just that no one should get some high and mighty that they dismiss players before they see if they can succeed. I was hoping Dallas would end up with one of the corners last year because of the need. I'm glad they ended up with Parsons. (And Anthony Brown actually played better than I expected ... although I hope that Joseph proves to be an upgrade and wasn't involved in a murder.)

You absolutely do not know that. You may think it, but you don't know. It's understandable to have misgivings about a player, but there's no reason to pretend to know how it will turn out or what his value is to teams that have professional scouts that go over these players with a fine-tooth comb. Doesn't mean they can't be wrong about them, just means there's an equal or better chance that you will be.

For me it's mainly picking a WR in the first round. I didn't hate the Lamb pick because he was one of the top 2 or 3 in the draft and he dropped to us, and I didn't see an alternative at 17. Burks isn't going to have to drop, and he'll probably be there in the early 2nd. He's a borderline tier 2 WR.

Whether I'm right or wrong about any WR isn't the point however. I don't care if they all turn out to be all pros. If we use another 1st rounder this year on a WR that makes what, 3 in the last 5 years? That's not helping any team that needs help on the LOS. That's something teams like the Detroit lions do.

WR Treylon Burks or a LG (Zion/Kenyon) I don't think Linderbaum will be the pick.

not a big surprise but i really hope its either Zion or Green.
Burks is too slow and limited for a 1st round WR.

Green showed his limitations and deficiencies at the Combine.

I would not mind if it was Zion Johnson. He's pretty good and definitely a late 1st round value, plus he's used to playing Left Guard and is good both in run blocking and pass protection.

I won't be mad with Burks. He's got flaws and I wonder how he'd work with Dak but I like his competitiveness and hands.

That said, WR again?!

Would rather Zion or Green. Even a DE like Mafe or Ebikitie. Than another WR

I think the Cowboys are trading up. I am underwhelmed by Zion or Burks. The scouts seem to like Zion and Burks had success in the SEC. That should mean something I guess. Zion ceiling is limited to me. Burks reminds of rookie Dez without the talent. I would draft Smith over Zion and Watson over Burks.
