Dane Brugler on our pick at 24

You absolutely do not know that. You may think it, but you don't know. It's understandable to have misgivings about a player, but there's no reason to pretend to know how it will turn out or what his value is to teams that have professional scouts that go over these players with a fine-tooth comb. Doesn't mean they can't be wrong about them, just means there's an equal or better chance that you will be.

Why are you scolding someone for their opinion, lol? If someone likes a player or not, telling them “you don’t know that (whether they’ll be good or not) is silly.

Burks is too slow and limited for a 1st round WR.

Green showed his limitations and deficiencies at the Combine.

I would not mind if it was Zion Johnson. He's pretty good and definitely a late 1st round value, plus he's used to playing Left Guard and is good both in run blocking and pass protection.

I much prefer Zion to anything listed.

However, LG is a much easier transition in the NFL and we could find a starting caliber LG later could be what they are thinking.

WR is also deep. But scouts may feel the drop off at WR is larger than at WR.

I wouldn’t be upset they went Burks over Zion. Reports are Green has knee issues which takes him off my board at 24.

If they don’t go Zion, I feel they believe he’s better suited to stay at OG/OC and prefer somebody with tackle capabilities.

People will panic they don’t get OG in round one. But there are plenty of options on day two that can plug and play at LG.

Until II watched the Michael Lombardi video on WRs I thought we had to take a WR early but there were some round 2/3 guys he thought could play year 1.

I believe the knee with Green is more of a minor issue, he isn’t going to be red flagged due to his medicals. Still believe he is the likely pick

There are plenty of day two and three options but they will reach if they don’t get him early.

I think it’s a good draft to need LG or WR. Whatever you don’t land in round one, likely can be filled in 2 or 3.

That’s why I am ok with Burks or Zion/Green

I think Burks will be gone before 24 but if he isn't, there are no two people in this draft that know more about his value to AR, the QB and HC than the Joneses.

I want OL but I could see them taking him and I wouldn't really have a problem with it because he was a true warrior for that team. You can bet they've talked at length to Sam Pittman, AR's HC, about him as they did Bielema before taking Yosemite in the 1st.

I think Booger has one goal in this first round, get the guy that best helps his QB. He's down 3 WR's and they don't know about Gallup's availability, Washington's production and if Lamb is a true #1 and worth what they'll have to give him.

I hope he also sees he is down two starting OL and his RB's need just as much help as his QB.

The suddenness of that ‘news’ on Green leads me to believe that it’s something thrown out there by people hoping he falls.

I would say they are down one starting OL. Upgrading two would be ideal.

I am happy with a guy like Salyer, Kinnard in round 2

WR Treylon Burks or a LG (Zion/Kenyon) I don't think Linderbaum will be the pick.

not a big surprise but i really hope its either Zion or Green.

CalPoly said it best.

If this franchise, with all the holes they refused to fill in FA, takes Burks at 24 it would be the cherry on top of this **** offseason.

He passed up a QB to take a guard before. So hopefully he learns the best pick isn’t always the flashiest.

He passed up the QB because everyone around him told him Manziel was a ticking time bomb.

He'd absolutely take a WR before an OL in this draft. In fact, I kind of expect it.

Why? Are you a professional scout who has picked all the right players in the draft and none of the wrong ones?

I just don't understand this attitude. Did you feel that way about the Frederick pick? How about the Parsons pick?

I'm not advocating for picks, I just want to understand why some act like they know how these players will turn out.

That would mean the Cowboys have used THREE first round picks in four years on WRs. That's not a smart way to build a roster, especially when you tell your fanbase you sit out FA because you build your roster through the draft.

I don’t disagree.

But taking Burks doesn’t mean they can’t have an excellent draft and still sign a few starters in free agency.

I agree that it’s an F from me if Burks and some backups is all we do in the draft prior to camp.

The "starters" you'd get in FA at this point are total JAGs. Space fillers. They don't improve your team from last year, they just either make it the same or worse.

They better hope to get 2-3 legit starters, immediate impact guys in this draft or 2022 will be another season where a flawed roster caps their chances at success beyond winning a weak division.

i think the odds are very slim they get 2-3 starters. i think the 1st rounder will start...then the rest will play some snaps but won't start unless someone is injured. WR will be the 1st rounder. It's a Jerry move.

If you draft WR 1st and LG 2nd, your 2nd round pick will end up playing more snaps than your 1st rounder. Except for picking QBs, that’s not usually a very smart decision.

Obviously there's 23 picks before us, but I rather go DE than OL or WR depending on who is left.

I still don't see the value of a guard in the first unless they are jesus in cleats Zach Martin/Nelson level talents. Even then, there seems to be quality guards that can slide into day 2.
WR is a bit of question mark early on to start the year with Gallup possibly out for a bit, but it's not often rookie WRs ball out right away and similar to guards in this draft, there should be quality WR's in day 2.

Give me an edge rusher as we have a former bust and Armstrong at RDE and Law at LDE-whose peak pass rushing days are over-but still is a very good DE.

Possibly.

But just because you draft an OL in round one, doesn't mean they won't be a bust or turn into a JAG
