I am not a fan of LSU players but the more i watch him the more i think he can be a good pass rusher with proper coaching. He has the frame to add 20 pounds easily and is already very strong and insanely athletic and plays the run extremely well.this will be a high upside pick but we can work him in at LDE while Hardy is out but the future looks good for him.

Could add 20 pounds. Could develop pass rush moves. Too much projection, not at 27. If he's still on the board at 60 we can talk then.

Hope we have better options at that spot or a good trade down offer.

he is not my first choice(i would draft 4 CBs ahead of him ).Ideally i would like to trade down if the CBs are gone but its hard to find this kind of athleticism in the draft.he is just 20 right now but if we hit on him the payoff could be huge.

I like him more than most people do, but 27 is too early.

I'm sorry, but hearing that an edge guy plays the run well is a scary reminder of how Greg Ellis was classified after he was drafted in 1998.

Give me the guy who can actually finish the deal rather than a guy who couldn't.

I'd be very happy if we drafted a Greg Ellis level player at 27 this year.

from Gil Brandt-

Hunter blew the scouts on hand out of the water with his workout. He started slowly in the pass-drop drills, but ended up having a very good performance. He caught the ball well when dropping into space, and also did a good job in the pass-rush drills. Hunter is described as having great upside. One of the scouts at LSU's pro day said that in his mind Hunter is a better prospect than Barkevious Mingo -- the No. 6 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns -- was two years ago.

this is not totally out of the realm of possibility, our board could be pretty wiped out at 27.a trade down would be optimal but it takes two to tango.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Not a fan of his, but I could see the Cowboys taking a risk on him. You know, Marinelli magic wand and all of that.

Greg Ellis at 27 would be good. If he is really Greg Ellis then put it in his contract that he can't talk (whine) to the media.

DANIELLE HUNTER, Louisiana State (6-5, 251, 4.56, 3): Third-year junior was told by the NFL Advisory Committee to stay in school but declared anyway. "Overrated," one scout said. "Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane. No instinct." Started 23 of 38 games at DE, finishing with 142 tackles (21 for loss) and 4½ sacks. "There's not a lot of production as a rusher, which obviously you'd like," another scout said. "But the stuff he does is rare. He gets his hands on balls and runs running backs down from behind. At times he is (tough). God doesn't give everything to everybody. He's a better athlete than (Barkevious) Mingo, but I can see the comparison." Long arms (34 ¼), jumps of 36 1/2 (vertical) and position-best 10-10 (broad jump). "I'm probably stronger than he is," a third scout said. "If Mingo's having problems (in Cleveland)...he's not even close to Mingo. He just is not physical. I don't know what you're going to do with him."

He is probably the best run defender pound for pound in the draft. That is not "playing like Jane". That comment came from someone that is not well informed.

Big fan of Hunter. Besides the crazy athleticism, he is tough and plays hard. He is deceptively strong. His pass rush moves aren't there--but when he gets it right, he looks a whole lot like Ware. I have confidence that Marinelli can coach him into being a productive pass rusher

At 27, I think I'm OK with him. I would prefer him to be the pick at our second pick or a trade down though

I think drafting Hunter is a projection, for sure. But the team was high on other high reward players, according to reports, such as Brockers, Poe, and our own Tyron Smith or Demarcus Ware at much higher picks no less. What matters with a projection is that they check all the boxes in terms of measurables, work effort, desire, and offer some immediate skill that the team can use so that the player isn't a waste of roster space.

Hunter meets all the requirements, and by all accounts, is a standup guy with 'unlimited upside'.

Give me a guy like that at 27 and I'm OK with it.
