11 plus yards per punt return
24 plus yard kick off returns

Hmmmm... I wonder how Crayton compares with punt returns considering all he does is fair catch and never runs....? lmao

You're are pretty dialed in to what is going on with this team.

Instead of wondering how Crayton is doing on punt returns maybe you should take the time to actually figure it out.

3rd in the league in terms of average and tied for lead in PR's for TD's with 2.

Remember when Reggie Swinton and Randall Williams were our special teams/wide receiver aces?

They were only on the Cowboy roster because we had no one better. Once we started getting talent, they were jettison.

Now, maybe all Danny boy needed as a chance, and he may bloom into a good player down the road. But we can't cry over Amendola. He's making the most of his chance on a very, very bad team. Hopefully he can parlay that into more experience and getting better at his craft. Otherwise, he's just destine to be another Swinton and Williams.

It's easy to rack up return yards when your team is getting scored on all day long.

The draft snobs will never admit their snooty bias, even when the proof slaps them in the face.

Those comparing him to Welker please defend his 7.7 yards per catch.

That would be a pathetic average for a blocking TE.

And Crayton is 3rd in the league in PR average last I looked.

Amendola might be able to replace Manuel Johnson or Jesse Holley here on the PS.

Nowhere close to replacing Crayton.

That's just plain nonsense.

OK, I've been having some fun with this thread, now it's time to get semi-serious... instead of comparing Amendola's possible contribution to Crayton's, I'd suggest you compare it to Sam Hurd's...

Hurd is easily the most expendable WR on the roster right now, and Danny could probably have given us more than Sam has this season...

Seriously...

For chrissakes, can we quit obsessing over how the grass is always greener elsewhere? How many people wanted to trade Romo for freaking Cutler last off-season, how do you think that would have worked out for us really?

Danny Amendola has a 7.7ypc average. That is worse than bad for a WR, it's complete and utter garbage, that isn't even good for a TE.

If Amendola was here he would be at best the fourth read and more likely the fifth or sixth, which means that he wouldn't have more than a dozen targets on the season and we would all be complaining how he doesn't get to play enough.

If for some horrible reason (like injuries to several WRs) he DID start for us, you would be burning down the forum over that 7.7ypc average. Good grief, most of you are ready to strangle Roy Williams and he has a 15.7ypc average and SEVEN TDs to Amendola's one.

Before RW you were always complaining about Patrick Crayton: he has a 14.5 career ypc average and averages just under 4TDs a season despite often being #3 on the depth chart.

No, Amendola wouldn't escape here alive with the sort of performance hes had.

He's on the worst team in the NFL. That team is the least talented team in pro football. Once they have a draft or two and a couple of free agent classes, Amendola will probably be somewhere else.

That wasnt all he did to get himself released. He had alot of chances that preseason and TC to make it. He even had the owner pulling for him.

He did nothing to be released. He was signed off of our practice squad by the Eagles....and we offered him more money to stay. Twice. He did the first time.

NO rueage here. I'd much rather have Ogletree here than Amendola at this point, but I'd rather have an a player with half Roy Williams talent and Amendola's attitude than the current version of Roy Williams any day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

LOL at the people focusing on the 7 yards per reception without considering the context. If he had that on nothing but screens, slants and drag routes it's understandble.

But of course that is neither here nor there. I was told he would never make an NFL roster and now he's catching 40 passes in his second season. Anyone want to bet that number nearly doubles next season?

I don't care that we don't have him. He wouldn't crack our top 4 but would be nice as a return man. Crayton may have a better avg this year but his career avg likely isn't better. I think over the long run Amendola would he a better answer at return man. But oh well. The real fun is being able to laugh at all the experts that couldn't recognize his talent.
