Danny McCray

Quality thread.

Dude is a backup and he plays like one.

Missed 10 more.

Our 4th string safety lead the team in tackles. There were other problems. The entire middle of our defense is playing with backups.

He isn't worse than Doug solely bc of the contract discrepancy.

this

doug free got starter money and for some reason wont get pulled

mccray was not meant to start

He's a special teams guy who should play enough to get us through an injury, not a full time starter.

he is bad, ill give him one thing though, hes usually in position but if you dont make the play then its worthless

an average BACKUP would play better than that... He is HORRIBLE. just horrible. Wheres Woody Dantzler?

I think he's actually been decent for a guy who is basically a special teamer. He takes bad angles from time to time but we haven't seen too many 60 yard bombs over his head. I still have nightmares of Santana Moss running behind Roy Williams 31.

He's not nearly as bad as some in this thread think. I'd take him over Sense anyday. He's always all over the field making stops and up near the line in runn support. He's usually in good position whether in pass coverage or run support and i have yet to see him get beat deep and get embarassed.

He missed a few tackles tonight.. so did the rest of our D. Get over it.

The both stink. The brain trust thought Matt Johnson was going to be the answer at safety.....

Well I don't think anything of Matt Johnson but its hardly too early to write him off being we haven't seen him AT ALL lol.

Well I will say this to agree with you, at least he is willing to try to make a play even if he doesn't have the talent or ability to actually get the job done. Thats something Sensy sorely lacks, got sick of seeing Sensy stand still waiting on players with the ball to run 15 yards to him then trying to make a shoe string tackle instead of attacking the play.

McCray is what he is, a very average player just trying to do his best out there. His best isn't a solid NFL player, but at least he's trying unlike alot of the other guys we have running around out there with their heads cut off.

Safety should be a focus in the first two days of the draft.

And that's why I think McCray is good in a limited backup role. And maybe he gets better. Who knows. He's still a relatively young football player. But as of now he's good in limited time.

He should be one of the last things we talk about after this game. That defense sucked today as a whole.

Been saying it all yeaer

Danny "Alan Ball" McCray. Replaced a scrub with a scrub. I mean really? Our wonderful GM thought this guy was something ?

Obviously he's bad. He's like our 4th string safety.

The only reason he's on the team is special teams. Because of a terrible injruy bug, he's starting. He was never ever meant to play this much.

Otherwise, the guy wouldn't be getting this much playing time.

What do you expect, Ronnie Lott?

Thanks for saving me the time to type this. And from the blowback I'd get for being a happy fan for posting it. happy fan.

Yeah he's just been forced into a bad position really, he shouldn't be starting but we have no other choices. Although he looks pretty bad out there, can't really be hard on him when we don't have anything else to put out there at the moment and he was meant to be a special teams player anyway (not like paying Free all that money to suck).

We just have to make sure we address the position in the offseason with more than a guy we cut (Poole) or a guy who couldn't get on the field (Matt).

Quoted for truth.

I didn't think he could possibly play worse than last week and he did just that.

I don't know what the answer is being so late in the year....but something has got to be done.

Being a former safety in college......

Rule #1. You are as deep as any WR on the field. Don't let anyone get behind you.

In Dallas...I don't think they have got that memo yet. Just doing my job to pass it along.

Personally I feel Sensabaugh is more of a strong safety and that we should be looking for a free safety.

Sensy's problem is he is neither a strong or a free safety, more of a true tweener. That is also why its so hard to fit someone next to him, cause he really doesn't have a true position he is best at although I agree with you that if he does have a position it is strong safety. Question is, in what universe is Sensy physical enough to be a strong safety, not in this one.

Sensy would be a great backup cause he could man both safety spots as a backup, but he shouldn't be starting for us at all. My hope is for 2 new safeties next year, unless Church is able to come back from that horrible injury for a DB good as new. We do need to prepare to not have Church, hence the urgency of addressing the position.
