Florida pass rusher Dante Fowler and LSU left tackle La’El Collins are both expected to be first-round picks at this months’ draft. But while Fowler is regarded as the better NFL prospect, he admits that it was Collins who played better when they went head-to-headin college.

Fowler told TheMMQB.com that when the two went head-to-head in 2013, it was a mismatch: Collins beat the crap out of him.

That’s a bloodbath right there, me and La’el,” Fowler said. “

To be fair, Fowler said his friend La'el whipped his tail his sophomore year. It motivated hints I prove and was even his Jr year.....which is still really impressive.

This past season Fowler beat Collins twice once on a twist. Collins took him where he wanted after the first quarter and they ran behind him the entire game. They called plays off him and backs looked to cutback behind him. LSU's QB and WR are very unimpressive.

He is very fun to watch.

Collins is a beast in the run game. A straight up mean, nasty bulldozer that will block his guy not only out of the play, but continue blocking well after the defender is removed from the equation. He moves very well too, getting to the 2nd level with ease. If he plays LG between Smith and Fred, its going to do wonders for his career. I absolutely love this player and had him as a lock top 10 pick for me.

and that is a really good defensive end in Myles Garrett, breaking Clowney's freshman sack record in the SEC.

I know. He's not some slouch getting pushed around. Thats a future NFL player lol. Collins plays mean and Nasty and I love it. Collins, Fred and Martin all play with some nastiness. If he's our RT, Leary is pretty mean 2. There definitely won't be many unanswered cheap shots on offense or defense this year.

Do you think he can play RT in the NFL? People are claiming that he is limited to Guard, but I don't see a problem with him playing RT other than he will have to learn to play on the right side.

I agree but I think Garrett is correct in saying he will play the best 5 that puts the pressure on Leary, Free to go out and play to save their starting jobs. I'm sure Collins will see some time at G and T during camp and pre season

I don't think Garrett will give anybody a legit chance to beat out Free. If a young player grades out at 90 and Free grades out at 85, Free will be the starter. They only way a young player gets that job with Garrett as the Head Coach is if Free grades out at 60 and the young player grades out at 95.

Maybe so but I think if they see overall better performance with Collins or even Green they will play. I think Garrett is more interested in winning a SB than to give a job to someone playing at a lower level. I do think if Free play is equal to Collins or Green at RT then he will go with the vet experience.

I think the only chance Free doesn't play is health. Green and Collins are not beating him out. I would take it one step farther and say if Free can't play, I would not be surprised if they move Martin to RT and put Collins at RG.

I would rather have Martin who has played an entire season in the NFL on the right side moving over, than trying to put a rookie who has never played a snap in the NFL and has never played on the right side at RT. Put him between Fred and Martin and I think he would do a much better job than he would at RT.

Camp will be fun to follow.

The issue is that the rookies are highly doubtful to be better across the board in game 1 than a player with over 80 NFL starts. They would have to play some real games to truly be better all around players. The would probably be more powerful from day 1 and do some things better, but their overall game will require playing in real games to develop. At some point the coaches have to take a leap of faith that the young player will be better at some point because it's just really difficult to become a complete player by just practicing.

Some teams would start with the veteran and work the rookie into the mix with a few snaps here and there; however, Garrett has not shown a propensity to do that.

I don't disagree. As I said if things are close then I go with a vet, if a younger player walks in and dominates I have no doubt that player will get the position. I do think Collins will end up and G but I think Garrett will make these guys go out and earn it and put his best 5 out there.

They like to train the OLinemen at two positions. I think that they may have Martin train at Center as his 2nd position this year. They need another option at backup Center. If Bernadeau is the only option at backup Center then he has to be active on game day. If Collins did beat out Leary at LG, then Leary would be on the bench on game day if Bernadeau is active. If Martin could serve as the backup Center, then Leary could be active over Bernadeau.
