Speaking to Dante Fowler yesterday, he had this quote that I think represents how the players viewed where this thing was heading:

“We got the guys, we just need to put them in the best position to make plays. That’s it. I don’t care how good you think your scheme is, you just got to evolve around your players, take your players’ opinions on some things and try to put your players in the best position to make plays.”

Also, we DON'T HAVE THE GUYS Dante. Just stop it. Flus was the tip of the spear, no doubt, but next we need the players. One thing I'm doing right now is Resigning Clowney. He can play in any scheme. He showed me alot.

Yep! Donovan Wilson playing high safety, Overshown and Liufau not doing what they're best at, was just a couple things.

How would he say all of this, didn't he say he was playing through injuries all season????

Good to hear NOW that he's probably done on this team, wish we knew how he felt during the season about FLUS

Clearly our secondary was a shambles. Choosing to regularly rush four and leave those guys in coverage longer was not a good coaching decision. Not playing to the strength of the corners we do have (man defense) also was not a good coaching decision.

But yeah, Jerry trading away our only true pass-rushing threat in a scheme where the DC likes to just rush four also was not a good move. Fowler did not have the year they were obviously expecting from him, but some of that is how we used him compared to how he as gotten his sack numbers in the past.

I go back to when we traded Parsons and what Jerry said about Eberflus and No-Schott telling him that they could scheme pressure. Either that was Jerry speaking out of turn (which would not be a surprise) or coaches just saying what their boss wants to hear. Eberflus's scheme relies on four-man pressure and zone without much blitzing. There is no scheming pressure in that scheme. There's the zone holding up long enough that top-notch pressure players can get to the QB. We had neither of those things.

It was unbelievable watching them play defense.

3rd and 8? Rush four, drop the rest 12 yards back.

3rd and 16? Rush four, drop the rest 18 yards back

3rd and 2? Rush four, drop the rest back
It worked every time, too. The opponent always got the first down.

Right.

The guy is a moron. He should have been fired after week 3 when it was apparent he's incompetent.

A key guy to bring back. And he seems to want to come back. While that remains to be seen I would welcome his return. I'm just hoping for more from Ezeiruaku next year...and maybe a second guy with that second first rounder. I believe it's now imperative with Bland's issues that they draft a top corner with shutdown capability.
