I think it's a smoke screen, I think the Rams still want Ginn. I think we would have to trade up ahead of the Rams to get him. I know some of you don't want him at 22 let alone a trade up, I for one am all for trading up to get Ginn, he's one of the top three playmaker's in this draft to me thats not a QB.

Concord won't be the only one sick if we pass on Ginn at #22. It would be Randy Moss all over again for me. I would be shocked if Ginn gets to 22.

I really don't believe that Ginn will be there at 22 at all.

It's all wishful thinking for me.:D

I live in the KC area, and while Hall may still be productive, he no longer seems to be the threat that he once was. If...and that's a big if, Ginn falls all the way down to #23 where the Chiefs are currently slotted to pick at, it wouldn't surprise me to see them take Ginn, but I imagine Ginn will be gone by the 23rd pick though.

Well, now we know the market value for Ted Ginn when he's 29.

:laugh2:

which brings up another point, I may not like the selection, but if we take Ginn, the enjoyment of it all would just be seeing your reaction

Trading a fifth round choice is a great length to go to sell a "smoke screen".

L.J. subject of 'general trade discussions'

Larry Johnson - RB - KC - Apr. 24 - 7:10 p.m. ET</B>

NFL Network's Adam Schefter confirms the Chiefs have had "general trade discussions" regarding Larry Johnson.

Kansas City has reportedly spoken with the Browns, Bills, Titans, and Packers, though the Chiefs deny that any of the talks have been "specific." We suspect the Chiefs are willing to deal Johnson for multiple picks, and not necessarily a first-rounder, to address their long list of needs.

Whichever team gets LJ is stupid IMO, he will cost a 1st round pick maybe more, not to mention that once you get him, you will have to sign him to AT LEAST Ladanian Tomlinson's contract numbers. (I am not saying that he is worth LJ in terms of value, but that is the current state of the market/NFL.) Also, the dude carried the ball more than anyone in the history of the NFL last season.(416 times plus playoffs) He could break down as soon as next year. Don't believe me? Go ask Jamal Anderson. http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/AndeJa00.htm After the awsome year he had in 1998 (he was 26 by the way then, 2 year YOUNGER than LJ) he fell apart. I would pass on him.

The Rams got a steal I think, I think Donte Hall is worth more than a fifth-round flyer; I am amazed that he only has 1 (!) probowl to his credit

The St. Louis Rams' long search for a return man ended when the team acquired Dante Hall from Kansas City in exchange for a fifth-round pick in this weekend's draft.

"We have filled a need with one of the top players in football at his specialty, returning punts and kicks," Rams coach Scott Linehan said. "Dante will fit nicely on our special teams and can be utilized as a receiver in certain situations."

The trade could have draft-day implications. The Rams had expressed strong interest in Ohio State's Ted Ginn Jr., as much for his return ability as for his resume as a receiver. St. Louis also has several needs on defense.

As part of the trade, the teams swapped positions in the third round -- the Chiefs moving up to 82nd overall, the Rams down to 84th.

"We have to get younger, and the only way you can do that is through the draft," Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said. "You're going to have to give up something to get something."

The trade also gives Kansas City seven draft choices.

"We feel that it's always important to have at least seven draft picks," Chiefs president Carl Peterson said. "Hopefully, we'll be able to acquire another one or two in the days to come."

The Rams have struggled for years on kick returns. Last season, St. Louis averaged 7.8 yards on punt returns. Only five teams were worse. The Rams were 26th in kickoff returns, averaging 21.3 yards.

The 28-year-old Hall has returned 11 kickoffs and punts for touchdowns in his seven-year career, including four (two kickoffs, two punts) in 2003. Brian Mitchell holds the record with 14 kick-return touchdowns, followed by Eric Metcalf with 12.

Hall also needs one more kickoff return for a touchdown to break the record of six he shares with Ollie Matson, Gale Sayers, Travis Williams and Mel Gray.

Hall was the NFL's top returner from 2002-2004. His production declined the past two seasons, though he had one punt return for a touchdown last season, on Oct. 1 against San Francisco.

In 2003, he had 25.9 yards per kickoff return and 16.3 yards per punt return.

Last season, Hall had 22.8 yards on 53 kickoff returns and 8.9 yards on 27 punt returns. He also caught 26 passes, two for touchdowns.

For his career, all of it with Kansas City, Hall averaged 24 yards per kickoff return and 10 yards per punt return.

Someone closer to KC could confirm this, but I'm pretty sure the Chiefs were close to cutting him this past year. I think they're lucky the Rams manned up with a 5th.

Don't think so.

His probowl year (2003) he had 1,950 yards from kickoff+punt returns. The year after that (2004) he had the EXACT SAME AMOUNT, only with only 2 less TD's from punt returns. In 2005, he had 1,836, still great numbers. So yeah. he has had a grear career as a kickoff and punt returner... It is just that probowl voting is so, so ********. He made the probowl that year because KC came out of nowhere to win the most games in that current nfl season... If Dante was in a city like a Philly or Washington, he would have made 4 probowls.

Interesting; Why do you think they would have let him go?

I don't know why, really. I think it's prolly tough to have a dedicated roster spot for a guy who is almost exclusively a returner, and sometimes they masquerade him out there as a returner. He was injured alot, I don't think his averages were what they were.

Two weeks ago, this was posted on KFFL

Chiefs | Team trying to trade D. Hall - from www.KFFL.com
Fri, 13 Apr 2007 08:47:02 -0700

Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Chiefs are attempting to trade WR Dante' Hall. Hall may be released if he isn't traded.

So, they were pretty lucky the Rams stepped up and gave them anything, I think.
