With the Romo deal done, and hopefully more depth signed soon here is what I think would be an awesome draft for us.

1st Round: Sheldon Richardson DT3

2nd Round(Trade down pick up extra 4th): Jonathan Jenkins DT1 (Not in love with him, but excellent value here. Can play the 1 technique.)

3rd Round: Dallas Thomas G (Better fit at Guard but can be used as emergency tackle)

4th Round: La'Veon Bell RB

4th Round(Traded): Chris Faulk T

5th Round: Duke Williams S (Don't know if he will fall this low, but I absolutely love what this player does on tape. Can definitely compete with Johnson for starting FS)

6th Round: Michael Mauti ILB

I like the choices and explanations, I have no problem with any of those picks, would of liked more Oline help but you cannot solve all the problems in one draft unless it falls crazy. Chris Faulk good choice OT with acl last year was clearly one of the top tackles before injury.

I actually love this draft. Most including me are calling for an OT or G in the first but DT may actually be the pick in 1. And Richardson may be there at 18 and is a great value pick there.

Jenkins may be a good pick for us in the first and better if we could trade back a few and get another pick. Jenkins won't last past the first five picks of the second at the worst. He could get pushed down by the OT run in the first but not too far.

I love the Faulk pick although he is a bit of a gamble to play early on. But I suspect he will be a special player at some point. I do think he will go earlier than the 4th and the 3rd is a reasonable possibility. If he's there in the 4th then I'll do a handstand.

I love Bell esp in the 4th. It's not unreasonable to expect him to be there but I see him going early 4th at worst. But some have to fall.

Williams the S is ok but I like Taylor, Wolff, McDonald and esp Wilcox later on. Either Thomas in the 3rd or fourth. Not sure Wilcox or McDonald will be there in the 4th or later but good value there esp Wilcox who can play CB as well. Williams is a good pick in the fifth but I would rather have others at S. I wouldn't be upset though. Wilcox in the 3rd or 4th gets another handstand from me.

Mauti had another knee injury this year following ACLs in 09 and 11. His 40s are slow but he seems to play faster. This is the only pick I don't like but this is not a bad pick. I don't know if he can make the team. I'd rather take someone like Ace Sanders here if he lasts that long (I see him going maybe in the 4th or more likely 5th). You can throw his combine 40 out the window BTW. Fragel comes to mind here as well if they don't address OT early on. He's a 3-6 guy and I'd love to have him. Hughes may go late although he should come off earlier. He can play the 1 and 3 and without the off field problems is a second day pick. He is an ideal player in Kiffin's scheme. I have no idea where he goes. 2-6 is not unreasonable. Goodwin is another speedster who can play the slot and return punts. I like Sanders better due to his quicks and missem' which is as good as I've seen in a good while. The problem with those two are they are so small I worry about injury. Goodwin weighs 180 and Dorsett played at that weight without issue. Sanders is smaller than that though. We need a PR who is scary.

IMO, the Cowboys are thinner at DE than at DT. Even with an extra pick you didn't get a DE and didn't get a Safety until round 5.

1st Round: Sheldon Richardson DT3
Richardson is too talented to fall to #18 unless the rumors about his character issues are true. If they are true, then the Cowboys won't draft him.

2nd Round(Trade down pick up extra 4th): Jonathan Jenkins DT1
Jenkins had an impressive Pro-Day and is quick "for this size"; however, I can't find any Kiffin type defenses that have had guys his size. Seattle had Alan Branch at 6-6, 325, but he ran a 5.07 forty at that weight.

3rd Round: Dallas Thomas G
Good pick here. I think he is a great fit at OG in Callahan's blocking scheme. He is a quick twitch type of player.

4th Round: La'Veon Bell RB
Good pick if available. The Cowboys could use one big back.

4th Round(Traded): Chris Faulk T
Excellent value if available here. I could see him going in the 3rd. He's had about 6 months more recovery time from his surgery than Dallas Thomas has from his.

5th Round: Duke Williams S
Good pick here; however, I would be extremely shocked if the Cowboys didn't draft a Safety in the top 3 rounds and probably in the top 2.

6th Round: Michael Mauti ILB
If he can stay healthy I think he can play in the NFL; however, Kiffin's scheme requires super-quick LBs and I don't think this player is a good fit. He has blown out a knee 3 times and had multiple other injuries.

Horrible draft. Why do you guys think that this defense will ever be elite? We play in a palace in a dome. That type of enviornment is made for OFFENSE. Having a great offense in Dallas will go a lot further than having a great defense. See 2007 for example. Our last great year. I'm sure somebody will point out that we didn't win a playoff game but we lost to a hot team that is in our division who won the title. Fix the offense. Stockpiling defensive tackles makes no sense in our current situation. None.

Your logic makes no sense. Doesn't houston have a good defense? Last time I checked they play in a dome.

Hasn't Minnesota had a great defense in years past? So just completely neglect the defense? Thats really worked great for the Saints in the past few seasons.

Plus all the Cowboys divisional rivals are in the northeast where its cold! Do you want to play on the road in Washington, NJ, or Philadelphia with no pass rush or no ability to stop the run? I didn't think so

Houston defense looked horrid when facing anyone relevant. Minnesota had a good defense. It wasn't great, and most of their money went to offense. Dallas will have a good defense as long as they get a mid round d lineman along with the progress of other young guys.

Furthermore, if we score points on the road those division rivals won't be doing anything but watching their defense get pounded by a dominating oline. Smh

I pray you aren't one of the guys giving romo excuses as to why he's always choking. You'd think those people would want a better oline. I'm done with Romo, but Atleast give him all the help he can get. Jeez

I completely agree with that. He does need a better line. That's why I have them drafting 2 offensive line and signing Brandon Moore

I can live with this... that would be a nice haul talent-wise. Rat and Hatcher could be gone in 2014 and their replacements would be on the team already and could actually be pushing for significant time by seasons end.

Dallas Thomas would be an eventual starter at G and Faulk (if healthy) is a starter at RT in 2014.

Bell would give an immediate contribution and Duke Williams is solid.

Nice mock Dan.

Love the draft.

Would prefer Christine Michael as the RB in the 4th, and Micheal Williams the TE from Bama in the 6th..........but overall .......really like the draft and the value where you took them.

That's a thought too! I was torn between a backup for Sean lee and a tight end

No love for Warford as guard? Or do you think he will be gone by the time we address that position =/?

2 DTs in the 1st 2 rounds??? Wow. You think a 2nd round DT is actully gonna play better than Ratliff or Hatcher? We have bigger fish to fry at OL & S. Im good with the draft as long as we can get either warmack or cooper, or even fluker & either Reid or Rambo. O-line is in way worse condition than D-line.

Smart teams draft for the long haul.
Yes, I'd love to have cooper.
Warmack? Not so sure he fits zone blocking scheme but hell be flattening his share before all is said and done

Im just saying it won't be "smart" to take the same position 2 rounds in a row epically with all our needs. We have have DTs that can start now. Sure you can take Richardson & he'll take Hatcher's spot but alot of people be sleepin on Hatcher. He's played good but will play even better in the 4-3. Ratliff will play the best football he has in his career if he can stay healthy. We have absoluty no one who can start & excel at FS. I'd be cool with Johnson if he actully showed something. He has yet to do anything though. & dont even get me started with the o-line lol...

Thank you! I'm amazed at how many people like this mock. If anything I'd take two olineman first two rounds. Lol

Thats why you draft for BPA and not for need. Its not really the same position when Richardson plays the 3 technique and Jenkins plays the 1 tech. Both needed. Let's face it Hatcher and Ratliff have 2 years left at best. Do you really want Lissemore starting when 1 of them goes down?
