Is Parcells trying to keep Woodrow around til the last cut in order to try and put him on the PS again? I'm wondering if BP isn't going to try and find a different position for him if he can get him to the PS? Would Woodrow still be eligible for the PS?

That is a good question. I was wondering what the rules are on practice squad players.

I don't think Dantzler makes the team or PS if eligible. I haven't heard any good new about him in camp. Seems like he hasn't made any plays.

I still think his best position to learn was running back. I don't understand why you take a guy who is a playmaker with the ball in his hands and put him in a position where he won't have the ball. Now don't get me wrong. I understand he still would have been a very long shot to make it in the NFL as a running back, but the odds got worse when they moved him to safety.

Why am I not concerned about Woody Dantzler? I think he'd make a GREAT CFL player.

IMO--He still has the greatest kickoff return in Cowboys history.....I will never forget that tip toe down the sideline for a TD! I will always remember this guy.

Yes, it was a great return. He did two seasons ago, but does not really warrant keeping him on the roster when clearly he does not make this team as a safety.

I think Bill cuts him at the frist cut so he can find another team. He needs another year in NFLE if he hopes to make the NFL as a saftie IMO and thats a long shot....

It was a great kick return no doubt but didn't he also fumble a punt or two in that game before the kick return?

I think he's keeping him around because of the NFLE exemptions he gets keeping him. By keeping Woody, he keeps another player, too. they only have ot cut down to 68, instead of 65 because of the NFLE players they have right now.

I don't think years in the league should keep him off. It depends on number of games he played (not started). I want to say 7 games is the line, but I may be wrong. Can someone confirm?

You asked for it..... www.nflpa.org

Section 4. Eligibility:

(a) The practice squad shall consist of the following players, provided that they have not served more than one previous season on a Practice Squad: (i) players who do not have an Accrued Season of NFL experience; and (ii) free agent players who were on the Active List for fewer than nine regular season games during their only Accrued Season(s). No player may be a practice squad player for more than two seasons.
*Extension Agreement 2/25/98

(b) A player shall be deemed to have served on a Practice Squad in a season if he has passed the club’s physical and has been a member of a club’s Practice Squad for at least three regular season or post-season games (a bye week counts as a game provided that the player is not terminated until after the regular season or post-season weekend in question).

*Extension Agreement 2/25/98

* If a player on the Practice Squad of one club (Club A) signs an NFL Player Contract with another club (Club B),

(1) the player shall receive three weeks salary of his NFL Player Contract at the 53-player Active/Inactive List minimum even if he is terminated by Club B prior to earning that amount, and (2) Club B is required to count the player on its 53-player Active/Inactive List for three games (a bye week counts as a game) even if he is terminated or assigned via waivers to another club or is signed as a free agent to another club’s 53-player roster or another club’s Practice Squad prior to that time. If the player is terminated from Club B’s 53-player roster and signed to Club B’s Practice Squad, he shall continue to count on the club’s 53-player Active/Inactive List but shall not count against the five-player Practice Squad limit until the three-game requirement has been fulfilled. If a player is terminated prior to the completion of the three-game period and is signed to Club B’s Practice Squad or is signed or assigned to another club’s 53-player roster or Practice Squad, any salary (as that term is defined in Article XXIV, Section 1(c)) that he receives from any NFL club applicable to the three-game period shall be an offset against the three weeks salary that he is entitled to receive from Club B.

I have not heard one single solitary thing about Dantzler during all of TC and preseason.

I am actually surprised he is on the team still. Has he returned a KO yet? Has he played any safety?
