Darian Thompson is a great cheap 3rd safety option that is solid in zone coverage and as a box safety. He’s not paid like a starter and as a 4.7 guy shouldn’t be asked to play sideline to sideline coverage like he is. Don’t hate the player for being what he is. The coaching staff are asking too much

Yeah, I feel bad for that guy, He is a no-name "set up" to fail by "rich" guys, whether they are players or ownership.

they have to ask, they have no safeties.

He made some good tackles in space today, but when Dallas asked him to carry DK Metcalf on a deep crosser, that's just too much of a physical mismatch.

He looked worse than Heath last year. I'm shocked he isn't a starting safety!

Some of its on the front office and McCarthy for taking Haha Clinton Dix but some of its on Mike Nolan for drawing up plays that put him in a position to fail. He’s done it too often with Jaylon Smith on TE’s, he’s done it too often with our edge rushers in a 2 points stance, and he’s done it too often with Thompson playing single high.

Too many players have been setup to fail and the DC IMO has a lot to answer for.

You act like the offensive coordinator isn't getting these match up by design. they know who can't cover and who can. when they're on the field they find them. if you get players that don't create so much of a mismatch on the field.you can only hide them for so long

still don't believe ha ha clinton dix was worst than what we had out there.

I was hoping Donovan Wilson would get a shot.

He has shown ball hawking skills when he has played.

Can't really do worse.

I am totally on board with this.

How in the world can it get worse with Wilson at this point? I just think they've put too much value in having experienced safeties back there. If they don't make a change this week, then my expectations for this defense improving even a little bit go out the window.

If Jaylon can't cover TE's, he needs to be replaced. That's just one of the duties of a LB.

He seems like a solid ST/Backup safety. OK in a pinch, but no someone you want starting. You certainly don't want guys like Thompson, Woods, Wilson, Carr, and Worley getting significant snaps.
