I have my doubts about him. Where's the production? Folks try to use the blanket excuse of "well, Bama has its DTs play the run first then rush" which is just overgeneralized nonsense. Someone forgot to tell Marcell Dareus, Jarran Reed, et cetera. Just 5 TFL in three years (35 games).

He does have upside but I think there's a lot projection going on based solely off his athletic ability.

If we were to draft him I'd want to put him at the 1-tech.

If he was drafted here, he would have too attack gaps. Both in the running game and in the passing game. Its why we dont value 1 Techs. Its not a 2 gap position here. I think the traits are there for Payne to thrive in our scheme

Probobly not even a realistic trade up target. I knew he was althetic, but I was expecting 4.7's

One of the things I liked about him is he is a hair on fire type player. Players like that find themselves in a rotation even while they are developing. As a rookie, he won't be a impact rusher, but he wont be a redshirt either

He hasn't done his drills yet. Could also be he just has great straight line speed. That was McKinley last year. Though that would surprise me
