I didn't realize he was a UFA until I just looked at the Free Agent list. Yes, he is old (33) and only had 1 int this season, but I think he would be a decent signing on a one or two year deal. Draft wise we are going to be shut out probably of the better safties and he is a a ball hawk. Also, he has had great games against Eli over the last 3 years or so. I guess age would be the downside if we got him, but on a short contract I think that could be a signing that would go under the radar that could really help us out next year. I think he has also been a leader type guy on the teams he has played for in his career.

There was a group of us screaming for him four years ago (whenever he was a free agent last).

He's getting a little old now.

Yeah I figured the age was the issue. I think we should look his tape over though because he is a ball hawk and might be a credible quick fix for 1 or 2 years.

He was a great player, and he would have been a great pickup when he left GB. Minny missed him when he was out, but they were also missing key players at all levels of their defense at the time. His play dropped off last year, and I suspect that if Minny lets him walk, it's probably best to pass on him, too. They could use him as much as we could.

I wanted Sharper here a few years ago myself, but now It's either Ed Reed or look for Safety in the draft.

Yes. Why don't we just go out and get Ed Reed.

Problem solved.

Darren Sharper at 33 is better than Keith Davis, Pat Watkins and Roy Williams (38). Get Sharper or Ed Reed here and win now!

If he says that, then that's fine with me.

He didn't want to come here when he was a FA then. I don't expect him to come now.

I wanted Sharper years ago when he was a FA then. Would have loved to have had him back then.

Now it would be a little different and would depend entirely on the amount of money he'd be wanting/willing to take.

Uh, he led the team in tackles for like the first half of the season when he was a rookie. Tackling is not his problem.

What "team" was he leading with 18 tackles over the first half of the season?

Just some basic research shows Ellis had 21, James had 25, Ware had 28, Newman had 27, Roy W had 28, Henry had 30, and Ayodele had 32.

Maybe it wasn't the whole first half...whatever.

Point is, he's not a bad tackler.
